WORLD HAPPINESS SUMMIT

The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation first traveled to the World Happiness Summit in Lake Como, Italy. World renowned Chef Maria Loi with Loukoumi Foundation Founder and President Nick Katsoris presented at the Summit about Food and Philanthropy (top left) including how teaching children to engage in good deeds improves their self esteem, their mental health and improves their overall happiness. SAN CARPOFORO SCHOOL
The Loukoumi Foundation also hosted its Loukoumi Good Deed of the Month Zoom, live from the San Carpoforo School in Lake Como featuring a discussion with students worldwide about what a happy world means to them. (See top right for a recording of the Zoom). We also debuted our "What A Happy World Looks Like" video featuring drawings from students around the world. Children from New York to Athens, Ecuador to the Philippines and Newfoundland Canada to Puerto Rico tuned in for this special presentation including a reading of Loukoumi's Good Deeds in Italian by Chef Loi and English by Nick Katsoris. Special thanks to Principal Omar Gervanosi and all the faculty and students.
ATHENS, GREECE
ACS SCHOOL
The Loukoumi Foundation's visit to Athens began at the ACS School (American Community Schools) including book readings and discussions with the students about career choices and believing in themselves, followed by a discussion about how they can make a difference in the world. Special thanks to ACS President Peggy Pelonis, Sophia Moross, Dora Andrikopoulos and all the students.
COSTEAS GEITONAS SCHOOL
The Loukoumi Foundation's visit to Athens continued at the Costeas Geitonas School in Pallini, where Chef Maria Loi cooked with students for the homeless. The children learned how to make cheese pies (tiropitakia). The food was packed with fresh fruit, juice and a handmade card by the children. The food was delivered later in the day on our inaugural Athens Loukoumi Good Deed bus to a homeless shelter in the Municipality of Athens, where the students personally distributed the bags to the homeless. Earlier in the day, Nick Katsoris read to the students the original Loukoumi book and Loukoumi‘s Good Deeds. The students were engaged in a discussion about good deeds, and how they can change the world. The event was also attended by representatives from Loukoumi Foundation sponsor, The Libra Group. Special thanks to Chef Loi, Elena Kastani, Vivian Gkolia and Loukoumi Kids Club President in Greece Athina Vyrgioti.
CAMPION SCHOOL
In celebration of Earth Day, the Loukoumi Foundation and sponsor ECOS teamed up at the Campion School to discuss the environment with students. We read Loukoumi's Good Deeds, spoke with the students about how they can change the world and increase their happiness by doing things for others, and Loukoumi Saves A Park, followed by an engaging presentation and discussion on the environment by ECOS Greece's Evi Miaouli. Special thanks to Headmaster Henderson, Effie Panagopoulou and everyone at ECOS.
ELEPAP
The Loukoumi Foundation concluded its trip to Greece with a visit to ELEPAP, a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive support for children with motor disabilities and neurodevelopmental deficits. We dropped off cards made by students from the Costeas-Geitonas School (shown here in the hands of the children of Elepap).
