The housing market is responding to higher mortgage rates and supply is finally catching up to, and in some cases exceeding demand. After several years with broad housing appreciation, more home listings are reducing prices in response to that supply. For more, read Peter Essele’s post. As we said in the webinar, a decline in home prices from current high levels is a real possibility.

The loss of the bison led to significant adverse physiological changes for the Native American populations that relied on the animal. If you have ever taken a dog on a walk on a hot day, you may have seen them engage in splooting upon coming home. We didn’t know what this meant either, but it’s the practice of laying down flat on the ground with legs splayed out. Some history on the word is here. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, household debt reached a record in June, with much of that $16.15 trillion (almost ¾) being mortgage debt. So far, this has been a quiet hurricane season. Natural disasters take many forms. The 4th-largest recorded tsunami occurred in 2015 in Alaska. The tsunami reached as high as 633 feet above the fjord and stripped the land of forest for 8 square miles. Fortunately, the area was unpopulated.
