As we come to the end of 2019,
We reflect on a year unlike any we’ve seen.
The market's been up and the market's been down,
Will we end on a high or go out with a frown?
The end of last year left us feeling quite woozy,
But we stuck to the plan and recovered a doozy.
The talk of trade wars dominated the news,
Raising the cost of our iPhones and shoes.
Washington stays in a state of turmoil,
The president’s tweetstorms continue to roil.
With the next year’s big election now looming,
It‘s clear the political news cycle is booming.
Don’t ask for predictions, although we have plenty,
Trump/Pence or a dem in two thousand and twenty?
Don’t let the furor distract you too greatly,
Good investors remember to act more sedately.
Success in the markets is patience-derived,
It's how folks like Buffet have always survived.
So remain laser-focused on your family’s goals,
And encourage your loved ones to play the same role.
Our advice is unchanged, like the rules of the game,
For though oft-repeated, the path is the same.
Spend less or save more, work a little bit longer,
Are three basic ways to make your plan stronger.
The economy, the congress, are out of our reach,
Change what you can, we continue to teach.
We look for recession, and chart all the signs,
But to time it precisely requires power divine.
So focus on quality and to risk pay attention,
When times turn rough this will limit your tension.
Foreign, domestic, large, medium, and small,
Plug away and let time do its work on them all.
Investing’s not gambling or some kind of magic,
Those who treat it that way often have results tragic.
And while 2019 has had excitement and fear.
Remember the same can be said every year.
Thus we greet 2020 with excitement and hope,
Whatever it brings, we know we can cope.
We send our best wishes the entire year through,
A Happy New Year from Lowry Financial to you!
