Scott Hamilton Is Sharing Why He Is the 'Luckiest Man Alive' (People Exclusive)

A Night 40 Years in the Making

On February 16th, 1984, Scott Hamilton stood atop the Olympic Podium with Brian Orser and Jozef Sabovick in Sarajevo, not knowing the impact that moment would have on his trajectory.

Forty years later to the day, Scott, Brian, and Jozef reunited for 40 Years of Going for Gold, an unforgettable event marking the 40th Anniversary of their 1984 Olympic Medals. Twelve Olympians in total joined us at Glide at Brooklyn Bridge Park to celebrate, including Nathan Chen, Mariah Bell, Gracie Gold, Kaitlyn Weaver, Paul Wylie, Emily Hughes, JoJo Starbuck, and Lea Ann Miller.

The evening began with a dazzling Celebration Ice Show, followed by a captivating Q&A with Scott, Brian, Jozef, and Nathan, led by Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer Andrea Joyce, providing insights into the remarkable journeys of these Olympic icons. We listened, laughed, and learned as they shared stories of their friendship, successes, and achievements.

Beyond the ice, this event served a noble cause, raising significant funds for cancer research through the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation. Congratulations to Scott, Brian, and Jozef on their contributions to their sport and this important milestone! Thank you to everyone who joined us to mark this special anniversary and make a lasting impact in the fight against cancer.

Celebrating with the Solar Bears

The second annual Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer presented by the Orlando Solar Bears brought the Florida skating community together to raise over $27,000 for cancer research through AdventHealth Cancer Institute & the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.

The Solar Bears donated $3,000 to the fundraising total as well as the use of their facility, the Kia Center, to hold this community event.

Scott Hamilton started the evening with celebrity puck drop for the Solar Bears game and emceed the Celebration Ice Show later that night. CARES' newest Board Ambassadors Eva Pate & Logan Bye performed and participated in a meet and greet with our fundraisers and sponsors.
