Exploring the colors, shapes, and abundance in nature.
May 5 – June 10, 2023

Join us for the reception on Thursday, May 11 from 6-8 pm

Jessica Poundstone will be exhibiting prints from her Superbloom collection. A superbloom occurs when many different wildflowers germinate and then blossom at the same time, filling the desert with color. Drawing inspiration from this abundance, Poundstone creates large, vibrant, abstract pieces that fill the one’s field of sight. She hopes that viewers can experience the expansiveness of this natural phenomenon and be inspired to find new ways to create abundance for themselves and each other. Poundstone says that this work “asks us to consider how we might keep working toward building a life, a society, and a world that gives everyone the very best chance to bloom big and flourish freely.”

The 101 small watercolor paintings and books by Leondra Brackett explore abundance on a more intimate scale. Brackett’s process begins with observational sketches created during her many outdoor adventures in Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Colorado. Back home in her studio, she uses these sketches to create imagined landscapes with “joyful liberty.” Brackett says, “I create places I’d like to wander.” Some of these landscapes she turns into books that link together visually to create small 3D sculptures, while others she fills with more landscape imagery that connects from one page to the next. Each of her pieces is an invitation to journey, to experience “a breath of wilderness,” and to be inspired.
MAC Celebrates Earth Day
We celebrated Earth Day with the rest of the Multnomah Village today on April 22. We had live performance and taught kids and adults how to make gardening greenhouses made of paper plates and gave away many vegetable and fruit seeds for indoors and outdoors in front of MAC building on SW Capitol Highway. Happy planting!
