YOU ARE INVITED. Please join us on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:00 am-4:00 pm at the Multnomah Arts Center for MAC's 50th Anniversary Community Celebration!!
In the fall of 1973, MAC began offering classes out of an old firehouse and police substation in Multnomah Village. 50 years later, MAC now offers approximately 900 unique classes, workshops, and lessons each year, serving over 8,000 registered students and thousand more through community engagement and outreach programs.
To celebrate our storied history and how far we have come, we are proud to announce a FREE open house event that is open to all in the community! On September 9, please join us for:

11:00 am-1:00 pm: Family-friendly dance party, artmaking, and demos

12:00-2:00 pm: Gallery reception for the 50th Anniversary Instructor Exhibition featuring works by 60+ artists across a broad range of disciplines, all past and present instructors (food and beverages will be provided)

1:30-1:45 pm: Celebratory toasts, featuring current and former directors of MAC and community leaders

2:00-4:00 pm: Performing arts showcase and concert

Fall Term Registration is Now Open
|
|
Registration for Multnomah Arts Center's Fall Term 2023 is now open. Most fall term classes and activities will run the week of October 2 through the week of December 11. We have a variety of classes and activities in the visual, performing, and literary arts slated for this upcoming fall term.
Registrations can be processed in a variety of ways!

ONLINE: View MAC's activities online. Search for classes by age, category, or keyword and register through your Portland Parks account.

PHONE: Call any PP&R site when registration opens. We also highly recommend phoning in your registration to the PP&R Customer Service Center at (503) 823-2525 (Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm).

IN PERSON: Any PP&R facility can process your registration, including the Customer Service Center located on the first floor of the Portland Building at 1120 SW 5th Ave.

This milestone exhibition celebrates the artistic achievements of over 60 of MAC’s instructors, both past and present. MAC offers approximately 900 unique classes, workshops, and lessons each year, serves over 8000 registered students and thousands more through community engagement and outreach programs. It has become an essential community hub built around a shared love for learning, creativity, exploration, and art. This exhibition showcases the breadth of talent that has graced the halls of MAC since its inception, honoring the amazing instructors who have shared their expertise and care with students of all ages for the past five decades. The works on display encompass a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines, ranging from visual arts to literary arts. The mediums include textiles, metalwork, photography, woodworking, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, painting, and poetry.
The opening reception for the "50th Anniversary Instructor Exhibition" will take place on September 9th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with the artwork, enjoy some food and beverages, and connect with the instructors who have inspired the creative community for half a century.
The reception coincides with MAC's 50th-anniversary open house, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on the same day, promising a day of art, community, and creativity. MAC invites art enthusiasts, community members, and supporters of the arts to join in this momentous celebration, a testament to the enduring impact of arts education.

The Multnomah Arts Center (MAC), a program of Portland Parks & Recreation, provides excellent arts education in the visual and performing arts at an affordable cost to students of all ages. We offer programs in music, movement, dance, theatre, woodshop, literary arts, metal arts, mixed media, printmaking, drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, and more.
