Hustler Athletics Celebration

On November 17, seniors Tyler Mecchella and Patrick Corley signed their letters of intent to play college baseball. Tyler signed with Eastern Florida State College. Patrick is headed to King University in Bristol, TN. We congratulate these young men, their families, Coach Dooley, and the team!

This signing celebration kicked off our Winter Sports Media Day where coaches and athletes from our basketball and soccer teams took pictures and talked about the season with local media. Go Hustlers!
Senior salute

Senior Night provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate our senior athletes for all of their hard work and accomplishments. We honored our fall sports seniors on November 4th at Hustler Stadium. Thank you Class of 2022!
A spot of their own

Seniors let their creative ideas take over while painting their parking spots. They turned our once dull parking lot into a true masterpiece of street art.
Continuous Improvement Survey

Like last year, we will be working with the Excellence with Integrity Institute (www.ewii.org) to implement continuous improvement surveys here at MCC.

In the coming weeks, we will survey students and staff and in January we will survey parents. Each of the surveys is anonymous, takes about 20 minutes to complete online, and gives our key stakeholders the opportunity to share both what works well at MCC and what opportunities we have to improve.

We will open the survey to parents on January 25, 2022, and close it on February 11, 2022.
The AEP advantage

Students at MCC have many opportunities for success. One of them is our Academic Enrichment Period (AEP). Here is how it works. The school is on a 6-day cycle (A through F Day). Each class meets five out of six days in the cycle resulting in one period scheduled as an AEP.  During an AEP, students can seek help from available teachers or use the time to work on assignments or homework.

HOBY Ambassadors

Congratulations to Jaime Vargas for being selected as the MCC Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Ambassador! Jaime will represent MCC at the HOBY State Leadership Seminar in June. Our alternate is Lolagrace DeSantis.
Hustler Candidate Night

On November 10, MCC welcomed the top scorers of the High School Placement Test at our Hustler Candidate Night. Students and their families learned more about MCC's available accelerated academic opportunities.

Art Club discovers mandala art

Art Club members painted radial designs influenced by the art of mandala. A mandala generally represents the spiritual journey, starting from outside to the inner core, through layers.
MCC Anglers are born to fish

The Anglers Club recently met to practice techniques with casting. Members enjoyed a competition for prizes with a casting accuracy event. Later this month, they will put their casting skills to use when they fish the Indian River Lagoon. The group has begun planning for an MCC school-wide student fishing tournament. Look for more details soon.
Academic and career planning

School counselors begin working with our students before they even step foot on campus as freshmen. Throughout their years at MCC, counselors ensure all students develop an academic and career plan reflecting their interests, abilities, and goals. Sophomores recently completed a career interest inventory in Naviance to discover top matching career options. They were also instructed on how to start the college search process. This week freshmen received an introduction to topics related to Student Services such as Naviance, courses, graduation requirements, resumes, and transcripts.
A deeper look into DBQs

Ms. Garber's AP World History class worked on a group project mapping out the essential elements of document-based questions (DBQ). DBQs make up 40% of the AP Exam scores, and students have been working diligently on their annotation, analysis, and thesis writing skills.
Interactive birthday surprise

The Introduction to Programming class is using Javascript and code.org to create an interactive card. The card has animated sprites that will respond to user input so the card changes as the user interacts with it. Great job!
Chess brings friends together

Oversized chess pieces return to campus! During their downtime, students gather to match wits at our outdoor chessboard.
Thanksgiving gratitude

Many thanks to the MCC Parent Guild for the delicious harvest breakfast for our staff! We appreciate all you do for us!
Basketball team room makes its debut

The Varsity Basketball team room was recently renovated for the start of the season. Coach Roberts and his wife have been working hard to beautify our basketball facilities. Thank you for making this possible!
The Office of Catholic Schools has partnered with Health Hero of Florida to provide vaccination clinics open to all Brevard Catholic school families. These are walk-up events. Parents or guardians must accompany children and sign the Department of Health’s consent form (see below). Children will receive the two-dose Pfizer vaccine, but all brands and boosters will also be available for others.

Daily Bread is seeking donations of canned goods with a pull tab. Daily Bread is an excellent place to donate as they do act as a food bank for other charities in the area.

MCC students may donate canned goods (pull tabs only) before Thanksgiving and earn service hours.

  • 5 pull tab meat/vegetable/fruit cans = 1 service hour (max. 3 community service hours awarded)
  • Bring donations to the Sullivan Center
