NHS members visit Southeastern Guide Dogs campus
NHS students and advisors traveled on Tuesday to the Southeastern Guide Dogs campus in Palmetto, FL to participate in their Beyond the Dark program designed to engage the senses and immerse participants in the challenges of people with vision loss and veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and other disabilities. NHS presented the $944 donation they made at their first car wash fundraiser for SEGD this school year. Following the program, the group was given an extra tour of the campus by a veteran with a SEGD service dog and had a chance to speak with a neonatal specialist from the breeding program. They got to see lots of puppies, but the biggest surprise of all was seeing Cisco!
A salute to our veterans
On November 11, the community of MCC gathered in remembrance, respect, and thanksgiving for our veterans, the brave men and women who have served or continue to serve our great nation. The MCC Color Guard presented our flags proudly, Sydney B. sang a beautiful rendition of our National Anthem, and all present were united in contemplation and gratitude for a free and peaceful nation. Partnership with Aquinas Grammar School
Since 2014, MCC students have greatly benefited from our unique partnership with Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School in Belfast, Ireland. This study abroad program gave our students the opportunity to learn first-hand about Irish history and experience their rich culture. In addition, they learned how to be gracious hosts to the Aquinas students by showing them all Central Florida has to offer and teaching them about our American traditions. The President of Aquinas Grammar School regretfully informed us that it was a difficult decision, but they must withdraw from the exchange program. Read more
Meet our rocket scientists
Foundations of Science students have been hard at work designing and testing their own rockets. They have been required to test four different volumes while adjusting their designs to achieve the longest hang time. This activity will culminate next Tuesday in a Hang Time Championship competition. On Wednesday, the team with the best hang time will receive special recognition for their achievement.
Daily school announcements go live
The MCC Broadcasting Team has made its debut this week! This group of dedicated students is creating videos of our daily school announcements. These videos are being shown during 2nd period to keep everyone informed of what is happening on campus. We celebrate this accomplishment! Way to go, Hustlers!
