Back to School Night

Roles were reversed at our Back to School Night, as parents went through the daily schedule of their students. Thank you for joining us and making the event a true success!

A welcome addition to school Masses

On Tuesday, Deacon Darrell Buono assisted at his first Mass at MCC. He just received his faculties in the Diocese of Orlando. He comes to us from the Diocese of Rockville Centre on Long Island. During his homily, Deacon Darrell reminded us that God is asking us to think of Him always; not only in times of need. God should be our first priority; not our last resort.

OneBlood educates its volunteers

Thanks to OneBlood for training our blood drive crew! These NHS students are eager to host our first blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 29. Sign-up during lunch through Sept. 28.

The Modern Hero's Journey

Mrs. Mercer's sophomores created a poster analyzing their favorite movie in terms of the Hero's Journey, and also identified eight archetypal characters. This project allowed students to apply learned knowledge to something in their personal realm of interest and will help them recognize similar archetypes and plots in the next books and stories they'll be reading.

Computer fundamentals

The Intro to Technology class recently finished a unit on computers. They learned the history of computers, studied how a computer works and identified the components of computers including hardware and software. As part of this unit, students took apart computers and labeled all their components.

Inside the classroom

Mrs. Byrnes's AP Literature students engaged in a spirited discussion of The Wide Sargasso Sea, a novel by Jean Rhys.
