From an Associate:

From a Dream to a Montessori Classroom in Kenya

Sandra Selvarajah, CSJA

A teacher in her classroom at Blessed Mother School in Njiru, Kenya.

For many years, I had a dream, a desire, to help young children who were less fortunate — to give them an opportunity to experience the joy of learning and to believe in themselves. That desire became much more concrete after the death of my son. I wanted to make this dream happen in his honor and, in some way, have his name connected to something that would give children an opportunity for a better future.

From our Jubilarians:

Celebrating the Commitment of our Sisters!

My first inkling of religious life came in a rolled-up paper prophecy in eighth grade. Back then it meant little; my eyes were firmly set on friends, sports and fun. It wasn’t until college that a quiet restlessness stirred in me, a longing for something “more...”

- Charlene Favreau, CSJ, Celebrating 60 Years

“God never disappoints.” I recall hearing those words many years ago. From a young age, I was fascinated by sisters. When I was with my friends who attended Catholic schools, I always wanted to hear their stories about the sisters...

- Marian Batho, CSJ, Celebrating 50 Years

Home Run!

Sister Kathleen Carr, CSJ

After serving for fifteen years as the Senior Director for Partnerships for the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) at the University of Notre Dame, Sister Kathleen Carr, CSJ, transitioned to emerita status on June 30, 2026.

Her Notre Dame colleagues described Sr. Kathleen as a sage counselor for so many, especially manifest in her superb guidance on how best to navigate diocesan structures and to design effective and efficient administrative processes. As a distinguished former superintendent, she enhanced ACE’s credibility among bishops, pastors, and superintendents Through her multi-year involvement with ACE’s work in Haiti, she played an instrumental role in connecting ACE’s work with the local Church...

Remembering 9/11
25 Years Later

Communications

Sisters, Associates, Agrégées, and Partners in Mission stand in silence as a bell is rung 25 times in remembrance of the lives lost on 9/11.

In the words of Sister Marilyn McGoldrick, we, as Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, “continue to be people who choose hope.” During a solemn service, Sisters, Associates, Agrégées, and Partners in Mission gathered to pray and reflect on the tragedy that happened twenty-five years ago. Barbara Loud, CSJ, lit candles to represent the lives lost on 9/11.

Casserly House:

Off to a Rousing Start!

Donna Stiglmeier, Director of Casserly House

A moment from Porchfest.

English classes are off to a wonderful start! On September 14th, new and returning adult learners began their classes. On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, some of those adult learners and instructors enthusiastically joined many more neighbors and friends to enjoy the fantastic music of ZepenG for Roslindale Porchfest at Casserly House.

CJCs and CSJs sharing a meal...

The Sisters of St. Joseph were very happy to be with the Sisters of Jesus Crucified for the celebration of their Feast Day, Our Lady of Sorrows, on September 15, 2026.

Msgr. Robert Oliver, was the presider for the Mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by a delicious dinner and entertainment with a Barber Shop Quartet.

Our relationship with the Sisters of Jesus Crucified in Brockton is a very special one. We were delighted to be there.
