A Note from Your State Director

As HR leaders and professionals, we understand that the landscape we navigate is constantly evolving, presenting both unique challenges and exciting opportunities. From adapting to new technologies and shifting workplace dynamics to maintaining employee engagement and fostering a positive culture, our roles require continuous innovation, empathy, and resilience. Many of us have faced challenges that test our perseverance – but it’s through these very challenges that we are discovering new ways to thrive.

For HR professionals, building a strong community is key to personal and professional growth, offering opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and career development. Nurturing meaningful relationships with peers and mentors helps stay ahead of industry trends and provides vital support in navigating challenges.

As your State Director, it’s truly an honor to serve alongside such an outstanding group of volunteer leaders. Together, we are looking for ways to turn challenges into opportunities for growth, engagement, and success. Through perseverance, we’ve found creative solutions, redefined our strategies, and are building stronger, more connected teams.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.

Warm regards,

Stacie Engelmann

Updates from Your State SHRM Leadership Team

February Meeting Highlights

At the end of February, the Missouri State Council of SHRM gathered for a dynamic and engaging meeting designed to inspire connection, personal growth, and innovative thinking.

The event kicked off with an evening social generously hosted by Lockton Companies, providing council leaders with the opportunity to network and build relationships in a relaxed setting.

The following day began with a focus on strengths and personal development. Each council member completed the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment in advance, and Madeleine de Boer led an insightful group discussion on how these strengths show up both individually and collectively within the council.

A highlight of the meeting was a “Shark Tank” style breakout challenge, designed to encourage innovative thinking and collaborative problem-solving. Stacie Engelmann introduced the challenge before teams broke out to brainstorm and develop creative solutions. Each team presented their ideas to a panel of judges — Stacie Engelmann, Lori McCombs, and Jim Paul — who evaluated pitches based on innovation, feasibility, impact, and presentation. The creativity and collaboration on display did not disappoint!

The Missouri State Council of SHRM continues to build momentum through activities like these, creating space for fresh ideas and stronger connections across the Missouri HR community.

Please join us for an up to the minute update on the status of Prop A. We will discuss the latest on the legal challenges to Prop A and well as tackle some of the most common questions on the law in its current form.
