Commencement invitations have been printed for the senior class. Each senior will be receiving 10 invitations.

Seniors – please remember to swing by the Division Office and pick up your envelope containing your ten commencement invitations. Each envelope is labeled with your name and organized alphabetically by last name. Envelopes are located on the countertop next to Mr. Montas’ office door.

Please reach out with any questions.

Time to Get Creative with Gala Donation Baskets
The MPH Spring Gala is just around the corner on Friday, May 20. Each year, the MPH community comes together to create auction baskets with generous donations from faculty, staff, and families. From now until May 6, 2022, we will be collecting basket donations from each division. Details and themes about each basket are listed below. The more items we receive, the more baskets we can create. 😊 Monetary donations are also accepted.

If you have any items that you would like to donate, please sign up with the links below, and send them in with your student, or bring to Ms. Cappelletti or Ms. Milton in the front office, or Ms. LaHaye in the high school office.

Your generosity and help are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

The Scene Around MPH
Grade 5 Play Moves up to the Silver Screen
The fifth-grade play has been a longstanding MPH tradition. In recent years, Maria Ricciardiello and Amy Abdo facilitated the students in a process that first began as revising an existing play and then moved to the creation of curriculum that allows the students to write and produce the entire play themselves.

Jennifer Concepcion and Maria Ricciardiello have incorporated this production directly into fifth-grade lessons and activities to give students a sense of ownership and responsibility. Each fifth-grade student has had the opportunity to be an intricate part of a process that has included script writing, revising, acting, and, this week, filming. Students have been learning about important aspects of a play’s full production including stage directions, props/prop creation, scenery, lighting, signage, film editing, as well as the incorporation of music and special effects.

This year, the class has been very lucky to have Raphael Concepcion (“RC”) from Syracuse’s own Newhouse School of Public Communications join them to film and edit their production. Thank you to Mr. Concepcion for his time and expertise!

The fifth-grade families are invited to a premiere screening on Friday, May 6 in the MPH Coville Theater at 5:30 p.m. Lower School families will be provided with details to watch this production on a private YouTube link that evening as well.

Senior Capstone Projects Return to Campus
Seniors present their capstone projects tonight, Friday, April 29 to the whole community for the first time in three years! This is going to be a public (and masked) event, where our seniors are given the chance to show you the results of a research journey they began last spring! Students from the Class of 2022 have researched fetal microchimerism, the future of unmanned space exploration, and contemporary methods for learning Eastern languages. They've written witty cultural analyses, painstakingly researched policy papers, and searching personal essays. They've filmed documentaries, video essays, and one-take films. They've written plays and screenplays. They've made albums in record studios and in their bedrooms. They've interviewed doctors, academics, and jazz musicians. They've programmed podcasts, academic curricula, and self-driving cars. They've designed affordable clothing styles, performed standup, and waded through the shallows of Cranberry Lake collecting mayflies. They've surveyed, sleuthed, drawn, designed, predicted, practiced, read, written, and revised their way to next week's presentations and they'd love for you to see what they've done.

The community IS invited, but it will be a masked event, and non-students/faculty will be asked to complete a DHA.

Senior capstones are one of those MPH traditions that absolutely set the School apart. This is college-level work done on fascinating, complex subjects. For a look at past year's projects, visit the 2020 MPH Senior Capstone Projects Site and the 2021 MPH Senior Capstone Project Site.
World Language Week
From French to Spanish to Latin to Chinese, it was an eventful World Language Week at the School, with the Phoenix the site of daily club activities related to each language.
Student Collecting Supplies for Ukraine
Evie McGuire-Griffin in Grade 9 is collecting supplies for Ukraine until May 13 at the School in conjunction with the Girls Scouts. Medical supplies, clothing, canned goods, water, blankets, bedding, and hygiene products will be welcome. Look for the collection box in the Phoenix Lobby. Once donations are collected, Evie will bring them to St. John's Baptist Church in Auburn, which is working with Ukrainian churches to deliver the supplies.
