MPH students take time to reflect before Thanksgiving recess
Signs of the season of thankfulness were all over campus this week, beginning on the giant windows near the gym where Lower School classes filled turkeys with feathers bearing thanks for the things, people, and opportunities the students have in their lives.

Ms. Trouyet's Grade 6 Spanish class learned a poem about a turkey. One of the students led the class in the choral recitation: Feliz Thanksgiving or Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias!

These canned and boxed goods will be donated directly to local homeless shelters on Thanksgiving. We will be collecting non-perishable items from November 1 through November 19. Collection boxes are located in the Phoenix and McNeil Lobbies. We encourage you all to donate at least one can and to spread the word!

MPHMUN Named Outstanding Delegation
at Highly Acclaimed Conference in Montreal
The MPHMUN team traveled to Montreal, Canada last Thursday through Sunday to attend the highly acclaimed Secondary Schools United Nations Symposium (SSUNS), hosted by McGill University.
Held in the Sheraton Hotel, downtown Montreal, SSUNS created a safe environment and a quality international conference for delegates to debate world issues. With the largest delegate-to-staff ratio of 2.5:1, and with all of the 500 McGill staff members trained in committee staffing and equity, the return to an in-person conference was a triumph.
The conference provided delegates with engaging preparation materials, workshops, and leadership and networking opportunities. Some of our MPH delegates debated the ethics of genetic engineering in the World Health Organization ECOSOC committee, while others

took on the roles in specialized committees like Mandela’s Cabinet, the National Women’s Soccer Association, the Singaporean Independence movement, or the 2060 security council.
The team performed very well, with about 70 percent earning recognitions and the team winning the overall Outstanding Delegation award. "As their coach, I am extremely proud of how hard they worked over the four days of the conference," said Advisor Ms. Chhablani.
"We did have some downtime during which we went on a guided walking tour of Oldtown Montreal," she said. "It was a great learning experience. We saw a large piece of the Berlin Wall, the Basilica of Notre Dame, and much more. The team is grateful for the entire experience and would like to thank Mr. Montas and the Health and Safety team for their support in making the trip a success."

Head of School Dave McCusker covers a few important items as we head into Thanksgiving break. Two key things: We'll be offering testing Tuesday and Friday the week we return. Just email the Health and Safety team to voluntarily participate. And, don't forget to email Nurse Christine regarding your child's vaccination status if it's changed with the new guidelines for children ages 5-12. Have a great holiday!

Students Organize Shelter Food Drive
Two MPH seniors are organizing a holiday supply drive from November 29 to December 17 for the Human Association of CNY, a local no-kill, not-for-profit animal shelter.
They will be collecting dog and cat food, toys, leashes, collars, and other supplies. Donations will be given directly to the homeless dogs and cats at the shelter.
The shelter has a suggested supply list to help with selecting donations – check the food list for specific items that won't upset stomachs. Collection bins are located on campus in the Phoenix Lobby, McNeil Lobby, and throughout the Lower School.
From the organizers: The recent pandemic has added additional strain on pet owners, and the number of abandoned pets has surged. Many shelters are not-for-profit and depend on donations. The main thing shelters need most is pet food – a lot of pet food! Helping shelters by donating food along with other supplies provides them with financial relief as they strive to place homeless pets in permanent, loving homes. Our goal is to collect 500lbs of dry food and 100 cans of wet food. Please help us make a difference.

Upgrading the All-School Meeting
The Wednesday morning All-School Zoom meeting is one of the new COVID traditions on campus first borne of necessity then refined through evolution.
The latest edition features a hosting desk brought to life through the skills of MPH's own Light and Magic crew.
From there, the school is given news updates, sports updates, a joke of the week, and a quote of the week. The meeting has just about always featured a Light and Magic video production, as well, with topics ranging from homecoming to gratefulness to this week's tour of the arts at MPH.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
From Ms. Rai's Advisory
"The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class – it is the cause of human kind, the very birthright of humanity.”
