Fire and Safety Week!
Always a fall highlight, Fire and Safety Week was back at MPH this week, with some new wrinkles for the Lower School audience. One of the highlights was learning to use a fire extinguisher, in this case a water extinguisher, to put out a fire-producing device that indicated whether students were properly "sweeping" the bottom of the fire. Health and Safety Coordinator Shawn Tompkins donned his turn-out gear for the classes too, and also helped to bring a NYS Trooper K-9 Unit to campus (complete with a puppy representing the next generation). Fire trucks came to campus Friday, and students in the Bradlee Hallway got to add a little wrinkle to their fire drill strategy this week by practicing heading out of the windows.

For the first time in nearly two years, MPH alumni, family members, students, and friends returned to campus for a weekend of festivities and events from Sept. 20 to Oct. 1. The weekend was filled with sports, activities, tours, food, and visitors. Many thanks to all of our families, alumni, staff, and volunteers who joined in. It was a wonderful time to welcome everyone home again. Check out more pictures from the weekend here.
MPH Apparel is Here
And you can buy online any time
The official Manlius Pebble Hill clothing store is now live with a wide variety of selections for all sizes, genders, and ages. A couple key points:

  • It's an online store, but it's open for the whole year
  • We have two designs available now - a script Manlius Pebble Hill School and an "MPH" option; you'll see the selections in the drop-down menus for each item
  • We'll be adding designs throughout the year, so keep checking back - and check Snapshot - we'll let you know when we've got new items
Weekly Lunch Menu
You'll find the weekly lunch menu here in Snapshot every Friday, but it also lives on the MPH website (you can find it through the direct link or on the left column of myMPH).
There's Still Time to Get a Flu Shot at MPH!
MPH is offering one more Flu Vaccination Clinic in collaboration with Kinney Drugs on Saturday, October 8, from 8:00 a.m. to noon! It’s completely voluntary and intended to make getting your flu shot as easy and convenient as possible.

This is for LS students and their families, as well as employees who couldn't make the school-day clinic work. We also welcome any community members who would like to sign up, including grandparents and neighbors.

Please use this link to make an appointment and be sure to complete the consent. It’s available on the appointment confirmation page or HERE. You may send the consent in ahead of time (this is strongly encouraged) to [email protected] or on the day of the clinic. Students cannot be vaccinated unless they have the consent.

Buzzy the Bee will also be available for our needle phobic friends. Any questions may be sent to Nurse Christine. 😊
October Events for the Lower School
  • Friday, Oct. 28, PreK-5 students will be invited to participate in a pumpkin picking scavenger hunt in the MPH STEAM Park.

  • Monday, Oct. 31, will be our MPH Fall Festival. Lower School teachers will fill this day with fall-themed learning activities that may involve pumpkins, harvest themes, STEAM experiments, art projects, read-alouds, math games, music/dance, and writing as it relates to their particular grade/class.

  • Please note that Lower School students will not wear Halloween costumes to school on Monday Oct. 31. Costumes, wigs, masks, and face paint/makeup are a distraction to our youngest learners and prevent them from actively engaging in planned lessons and activities. Lower School students are welcome to wear a fall or Halloween themed T-shirt or accessory on Monday, Oct. 31.

  • In accordance with our MPH Food Allergy Safety Protocols, please do not send any food, snacks, or treats for your child to eat or share with their class. Chef Christine and her dining hall staff will share a special nut-/egg-free treat with our students as part of our MPH Fall Festival.
MPH Parents’ Association Fundraiser

The MPH PA is once again collecting children’s items to sell at the Polkatot Consignment Sale. All proceeds go to support PA events. Find the list of what we are collecting here.

Please contact Theresa Heath with any questions at 315-254-5687 or [email protected]. We will be collecting through October 28.

Working in Nature
Students in Ms. Bonacorsi's Grade 9 Biology class did a little fieldwork this week to assess the stages of succession present on the MPH nature trail. Students used the Seek App on their phones to help them identify plant life and will later use these data to compare whether the plant communities are consistent throughout the nature trail.
Miori Martial Arts After School Club, Grades K-5
The club runs on Tuesdays from October 13-November 17 from 3:15-4:00 p.m. Registration fee is $85.
