Take a look at some of the exciting things we've been up to in and out of the classroom!
Our Lower Schoolers are Natural Performers!
Our Lower School Performing Arts program provides students in grades 3, 4, and 5 with the opportunity to explore and pursue a choice of dance, chorus, band, and orchestra. Students meet twice per six-day cycle for Performing Arts classes, and those students learning instruments are able to take small group lessons each week. Providing these varied opportunities for our LS students to engage in the arts is a priority. See the photo Gallery above.
Outside the Classroom: PA and NYC
As an essential element of the ninth-grade experience for over 20 years, the trip to Bryn Mawr Mountain Retreat in northeastern Pennsylvania emphasizes cooperative team building through effective communication. Bryn Mawr’s facilitators and MPH’s teachers work together to craft a program that develops enduring lessons specific to the dynamics of each ninth-grade class. And it's a lot of fun, too!
Meanwhile, the seniors were enjoying an overnight in the Big Apple! There, they enjoyed skyline views of the city on a dinner cruise, saw Dear Evan Hanson, and visited the 911 Memorial and Museum. This trip provides great class bonding to kick off the school year!
"The Artist's Oath"
While visiting 7th-grade art, I made the mistake of downplaying my art skills. Immediately, Ms. Thomman and her students corrected me by reciting their oath,
The task at hand was to use the slab technique to create a sphere out of clay. That sphere could then become whatever the student imagined. One will become a coconut, one a forest, and one a hot-air balloon.

Strike a Pose!
Upper School students in grades 9-12 are conducting their first official photo shoot in their Intro to Photography class. Click the image below to see what they are up to!
Girls Modified Soccer -- Small but Mighty!
Coach Demers is leading her smaller-than-usual modified team to one victory after the next! Just 11 girls strong, these 7th and 8th graders have won three games so far and are looking strong for the remainder of their 11-game season. Go Trojans!
What Time is It?
Roman numerals have been painted over the sundial in the STEAM Park. Finally, enough dry and sunny days to accomplish a task after 12 months of waiting! The sundial is quite accurate in telling the time for a concept originating in the 13th century! Its construction began at the end of last summer, with Dr. Utuje's physics acumen calculating the angles, measurements of the "Zodiac" (box in the center with the months noted) and the ellipse (the arc at the top), all based on the latitude in Syracuse (43rd parallel).
