Creating a Learning Opportunity
With the growing concerns surrounding COVID-19, Science Department Chair Sue Foster opened her classroom during lunch Wednesday to talk to Upper Schoolers and adults about the biology behind a virus, what exactly the coronavirus is, how it is spread, and what can we do to protect ourselves and others.
It was both informative and fascinating!

Photographing Landscapes

This semester's Intro to Photo class embarked on their first field trip this week. The nine class members traveled to Clark Reservation in Jamesville, where they had an o pportunity to work on photographing landscapes with a range of values. Check out our students in action!
100 Days Already?

Our Pre-K class celebrated 100 Days of school with a special "100 snack" that included 10 different types of snack foods (and 10 pieces of each type) for every child. They were even were learning 10 x 10 = 100!
Maple Syrup Season!

Assistant to the Head of School (and resident maple syrup expert!) Amy Critz treated our Kindergarten classes to a lesson on the process of maple sugaring--all steps from tree tapping to syrup, with a taste of said sweet treat at the end! Take a look at the photo gallery and videos below!
Did You Know...March is Dedicated to Dance in Schools!

Every March, the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) celebrates Dance in Your Schools Month. The NDEO recognizes the benefits of dance education as part of the curriculum, acknowledges the achievements of students and teachers in the K-12 setting, and advocates for high-quality dance education in all schools.

At MPH, we agree! And, as part of our robust dance curriculum, Middle and Upper School students are utilizing their in-class studio time to get ready for the Repertory Dance Concert scheduled for May 1 and 2. We found Michele Koziara's sixth and seventh-graders hard at work this week as they perfected their moves! Take a look at the photos and videos below!
iPads Take Third-Graders to Egypt!

This week, students in Ms. Palmer's class used iPads to take a virtual reality tour of ancient Egyptian pyramids. They "wandered around" inside the pyramids and discovered where different kings and pharaohs were buried. Later, in the classroom, students were able to observe different patterns, pictures, and hieroglyphics inside the pyramids by viewing historic photos of the interior walls. Finally, after reading about how the pyramids were built and the different jobs one could have when building a pyramid, third-graders built their own pyramid out of Legos! Take a look at the photo gallery and video below!
Winter Semi-Formal

Upper School students gathered last week for the Winter Semi-Formal. Organized by the Student Council, this annual event was the perfect way to end a busy week of classes.
Thank you, Z Club!
