Greetings MS/US Families,

As the weather turns colder, I would like to remind students of the dress code for Standard Dress Days and Formal Dress Days.

Standard Dress Days: Solid black/navy/gray/white button down sweaters are permitted. Allen hoodies and sweatshirts are permitted.

Formal Dress Days: Solid black/navy/gray/white button down sweaters are permitted. Allen hoodies and sweatshirts are NOT permitted.

Students, please be sure you have the appropriate outerwear if you wish to wear it inside the buildings. Also, blankets are not allowed as a substitute for outwear.

This week we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week brought to us by the National Family Partnership, the nations largest and longest running drug-use prevention program. This week the MS Student Council designed some playful dress-up days to bring a Drug-Free awareness to campus.

I hope everyone is enjoying this “autumn weather”. Before you know it we will all be showing up in costume to celebrate Halloween! As always, if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Well wishes,

Mr. Jordan

Students in 06 Art are working on creating their own still life to draw. Students used various objects to design the perfect still life for their work.

Student Ambassadors began to prep for the prospective Parent Visit. Some ambassadors prepped for the event by making swag bags, while others helped usher parents on campus. Great job volunteering ambassadors!

Biology students learned an old way of making photos using different yeast. Here students can see how biology can be used in industry and see the production of CO2 during fermentation.

Students in European History did a jigsaw activity where they read a section and taught the class about Eastern Absolutism. Jigsaw requires students to work in groups on subtopics and share their learning. When all the pieces come together, the students will have experienced the complete topic.

The Rockin' Rams received their new shirts this year! If you were at the football game you could see their new gear along with hear their sound. The students have been working hard to bring us their best sound. Congratulations to Idhaa A., Band President, for designing the new shirts.

The 7th graders continue to study body systems in life science. This week they completed a filtration lab for the Excretory (Urinary) System, as well as checking out how our ditches filter water entering our campus wetland. They also explored the nervous system with a lab testing their reflexes

Pink Out Pep Rally was a hit! Students spent the day wearing pink to bring awareness to breast cancer.

In the spirit of Fall and Halloween around the corner, the 7th grade Life Science class has set up a decomposing Fred-O-Lantern that they will be observing for the coming weeks. Each student also contributed something decomposing and a decomposer to the closed system. Now we wait, and watch, and report!

Any Junior and Senior students interested in going on the international trip in the Spring 2024 should contact Mrs. Wendy Lee (wlee@allenacademy.org) for more information. Interest meeting will be August 23rd and August 30th in Mrs. Lee's classroom. Also, please review the trip itinerary and documents provided.

Favorite Thing About Being at Allen:

I enjoy the opportunity to guide students in their skill development for playing an instrument from beginner through advanced levels of individual and ensemble performance.

About Me:

I continue to play the oboe professionally and teach private oboe lessons to students in the community. For a hobby, I enjoy learning about different native Texas flowers and flowering plants, and how to incorporate them into a backyard garden landscape.
