United Macedonian Diaspora
Dear Friend:

DonateNowDonateNowFounded in 2004, United Macedonian Diaspora is the first Macedonian non-government organization to employ professional staff, working around the clock so that your Macedonian voice is heard, in Washington, D.C. and around the globe.

Last week, three new members of Congress joined the Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans, bringing the total to ten since April 2011.

On Thursday, seven new members of Congress signed a letter to President Obama, urging him to invite Macedonia to join NATO at the upcoming Chicago Summit on May 20-21.

The Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans started circulating the letter last Tuesday, February 28 - in less than two weeks, 22 members of Congress had signed.  But this is not all, and we are far from done; our goal is 40 members of Congress to sign by March 22nd - two more weeks!

On Friday, Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana introduced the NATO Enhancement Act of 2012, urging President Obama to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, and Montenegro to NATO at the Chicago Summit, among other important issues related to NATO enlargement.

Helping to make all of this happen is your letter writing, your meetings with your members of Congress, and your financial support.

Last week, we had a meeting with Kyle Lierman from the Office of Public Engagement of the White House to express the concerns of the Macedonian-American community.  Later that day, we met with Ambassador Reeker at the State Department.

Meanwhile, UMD representatives in Canada followed suit, holding private meetings in Ottawa and Toronto with 10 different Canadian MPs, including the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird, discussing issues ranging from Macedonia and NATO to the serious human rights concerns of Macedonians in northern Greece.

Your past support has educated decision-makers around the world about the power of our community, and the principles behind our cause.  With your renewed financial help, we can do so much more!  Please take a moment today to make a secure on-line donation.  Whether you give $6, $60, or $600, your contribution will deliver real results.

Respectfully,

Metodija A. Koloski
President
