The New Year is off to a busy start. There is a great deal of information in this newsletter. I hope you will reach out to me with any questions.
The 2022 Primary Election will take place Tuesday, June 28. As always, we have many races on the ballot. This cycle is a critical one for many reasons. It is important to encourage your like-minded family, friends and neighbors to vote.
Along with Federal, State and local races, Precinct Committeeperson seats are open in the Primary. Petitions and packets are now available in the Madison County Clerk's office for those races, as well as online on the County Clerk’s website. These forms and instructions are downloadable and easily accessible. Remember with redistricting precinct boundaries have changed based on population shifts as identified by the US Census.
It is important to make sure the signatures on your petitions are from registered Republican voters residing within your precinct's boundaries. Completed petitions and paperwork can be returned starting March 7 and must be turned in to the Madison County Clerk's office by end of business March 14.
While the year began with the good news of Associate Judge Andrew Carruthers' selection, we quickly learned of some questionable tactics exercised by area Democrats. The latest dirty tricks mean we will need to work harder and smarter than ever leading into the next 11 months. We need the support of each and every conservative voice in Madison County.
You've likely already heard the news that has been widely reported in the media and addressed at county committee and board meetings. Democrats have introduced three judicial subcircuits in Madison County, making it harder for us to elect two judicial seats currently held by Republican appointees. As a part of the introduction of subcircuits, Judges Amy Sholar and Chris Threlkeld were required to move from their homes within a short window of time in response to this politically motivated action taken by House and Senate Democrats, led by Jay Hoffman, Katie Stuart and Rachelle Crowe - three people we need to work hard to unseat in the Nov. 8 General Election.
We will need every person willing and able to help in order to fight off this disgusting political power grab of our judiciary by the Chicago Democrat Machine. When they can’t win at the ballot box, they resort to changing the rules in Springfield. We must do everything possible to change the legislators in Springfield. We have to do everything in our power to get Stuart and Crowe defeated in November.
The next meeting of the Madison County Republican Central Committee will take place Monday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Edwardsville Gun Club, 4104 Staunton Road, Edwardsville. We will talk about all these items and more as we prepare for a successful 2022.

Sholar, Threlkeld take on Democrats, will run for judicial seats |
|
Despite the Democratic Party's best efforts to regain control of Madison County judicial circuit seats, Judge Amy Sholar and Judge Chris Threlkeld announced last week they plan to seek election in two newly created subcircuits.
Sholar and Threlkeld were appointed to fill judicial vacancies and had announced plans to run for election this fall. The creation of subcircuits required the judges to relocate their residency out of necessity.
In a released statement, the two judges said that, "with a partisan roll call, without input from the judiciary, with only hours of notice, while most of Madison County was in pajamas, the Chicago machine passed legislation (SB 928) to change the way the voters in Madison County have selected judges for over 50 years."

Retired Circuit Court Judge Hackett blasts "legislated bombshell" call for judicial subcircuits
Newly established judicial subcircuits present real challenges for Madison County voters, marginalizing thousands.
"This is a direct assault on a citizen's long cherished right to decide who it will entrust with administering the law and justice," the Honorable James Hackett, retired Madison County Circuit Court judge wrote in a recent opinion piece.

Carruthers elected to fill judicial seat |
|
Associate Judge Andrew Carruthers recently was sworn in to fill a seat vacated by retired judge Clarence Harrison.
A long-time Republican, prior to his selection, Carruthers most recently served as an assistant state's attorney overseeing the Civil Division.

2022 Wood River Residents' Town Hall meeting set |

In response to residents' requests to discuss their concerns outside city council meetings, Wood River City Councilman Jeremy Plank organized a Town Hall meeting.
The 2022 Wood River Residents' Town Hall will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 in the Rally Room at Rustic Roots, 200 W. Ferguson Ave., Wood River. Topics will include the Round House, taking on additional debt and more.
