Did you know you have a precious little child inside?
One who is overflowing with whimsy, wonder, magic, creativity, helpfulness and a huge tender heart that wants to love and be loved?
One who has also experienced heartbreak, confusion, fears, pain and loneliness, all of which can hold us back and cover up our True Essence.
When we are little and experience pain or loss, it can be overwhelming to
our nervous system, and too much for us to process. Parents and adults
often didn't know how to hold safe space for us to process what was going
on because of their own unhealed wounds. They may have attempted to gloss
over our pain, make it all better with a bandaid or a treat, or maybe they weren't tuned in to see and feel what we were going through. In this, we learned to deny, ignore, gloss over, or bandaid our pain and heartache.
This leads to us making up stories about ourselves, others, and the world like; I am bad, worthless, stupid, a burden. People can't be trusted. The world is dangerous; I have to figure things out on my own. I don't belong, etc.
False beliefs and conclusions get deeply imbedded into our psyche
from unprocessed pain and misunderstandings in our childhood.
We end up forming a wall of defensiveness, judgment, intellect, ambition, image and clever masks to protect our tenderness and vulnerability. Then we attract people to confirm our stories, which are often limiting and untrue.
Ideally, the way through any pain and loss is to face and feel it.
Part of our job as adults is to find our inner child, to see them, listen to them, honor them as they are, and acknowledge the pain they experienced growing up. In doing this, we reaffirm the truth of who we are and validate the experiences we have gone through. This then releases our little one from the prison of false narratives they developed. With time and attentiveness, this healing work brings us into the freedom and fullness of living in and as our True Loving Essence.
It takes willingness, gentleness and caring to authentically connect with our inner child. Sometimes they are angry and closed when we first approach them, especially if there has been decades of forgetting about them. But when you are patient and consistent enough, I promise they will come
out to play, and your Inner Goodness will come shining through again.
With the intimacy and integration of your inner child,
You will return to Being a Light in the world.
The Light you were meant to be
The Light you always are.
And we will all be Blessed.
In Joy,
Teri Jo
