Join Your Church Family. Do the...
Join your church family on May 1 as we use the YouVersion App to do the 30-Day Shred bible reading plan by Nathan Finochio. This plan will not be a verse-by-verse in-depth study. Rather, it will help us view the forest, not the trees. You may choose to read or listen to your favorite version.

If you do not already have the YouVersion bible app on your phone, tablet, or computer, you may download it below. Then, click on the link to accept FPCB's invitation to the plan.
Technology got you stymied?

We will hold a technology-help session after church this Sunday to walk you through installing the YouVersion app and signing up for the bible reading plan. We can't wait to see how God blesses us through doing this study together!
Help Supply Youth with Bibles

Youth Minister Kaelin Clogan, to reach more youth, is also a leader at Pine-Richland Young Life. Young Life’s mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus and help them grow in faith. The group does this by hosting gatherings Monday and Wednesday evenings.

This school year, Young Life has attracted a surge of new students. Each week, about 30-40 students attend bible study in students’ basements. Just six months ago, the average attendance was 12-15.

Young Life has a “bible bag” that is brought to each Bible study so students can borrow a simple New Testament Bible. So many students have been asking to keep the bibles for themselves that the bag is nearly empty.

Here’s where you can help!

Kaelin and Pastor Jeremy would like to give a new ESV Student Study Bible to those who do not have their own. The goal is to provide 24 bibles for about $500. If you feel led to donate to this effort, contact Kaelin or Pastor Jeremy. Thank you for helping share the gospel!
THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW Sermon Series

Come and See Where He Lay!

Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! We were blessed on Sunday to rejoice in the resurrection with so many brothers and sisters in Christ. Worship engaged 265 people in the sanctuary and the live stream reached 92 homes.

Pastor Paul Becker, in his sermon, compared the resurrection with the engine in a Nascar racecar and said that God, in the first 10 verses of Matthew 28 (Matthew 28:1-10), laid the groundwork for the disciples’ belief in the most unbelievable thing, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.

"The resurrection is the engine... It is the engine that propels the preaching of the gospel," Pastor Paul said. "If there's no belief in a resurrection, there is no motor for the gospel, the good news concerning who Jesus is and who we are, and our relationship with God and our reconciliation with God through the atoning sacrifice of Christ's blood on the cross."

Pastor Paul outlined three movements in the passage:

  1. The events surrounding the resurrection, vs. 1-4
  2. The angel speaking to the women visiting the tomb, vs. 5-7
  3. The women's encounter with the risen Christ, vs. 8-10

In the first movement, the earth shook, and an angel descended and rolled the stone away from the tomb. In the second, the women came, out of love, to the tomb to prepare Jesus' body for burial. Upon seeing them and knowing their purpose, the angel said they had no reason to fear. They were welcome to "come and see the place where he lay."

"I extend that invitation to you today to come and see the place where he lay. Behold with your mind's eye, the place where Jesus lay, grave's clothes folded up, no body," Pastor Paul said. "In this moment, there is an act of faith. Either you have faith that indeed he was raised from the dead or you have faith that he has not risen from the dead and something else happened to his body."

In the last movement, the women meet Jesus and fall at his feet to worship, and he commissions them to tell the disciples to meet him in Galilee. It is the launch of the resurrected Jesus' ministry through his disciples to the world.

"The hope is you would see the risen Christ here (at Bakerstown), and that your response to the grace of his visitation to you, in the midst of your obedience, would be one where you fall at his feet, and you embrace him and you worship him. That's what's offered to you all every Sunday," Pastor Paul said.

Welcome to the Table

Pastor Jeremy Collins poses with his students, who received Communion for the first time on Maundy Thursday. These students, as well as one not pictured, completed the necessary preparation to receive the sacrament. Make sure you welcome them to the table when we next celebrate Communion on May 1.

The students will be gifted a special bible at this Sunday's service. For more photos from Maundy Thursday, click here.

Mantlo Mission Update

Christine and Wade Mantlo are missionaries with CRU. We offer budgeted support and prayer for their efforts. As some know, Christine, who grew up attending our church, has been battling ovarian cancer. We have great news! She is showing no signs of cancer and has been cleared for international travel to Turkey for the global leadership team meeting. The couple is currently in Albania.

Please pray that their travel goes smoothly, for the health and safety of their family and the global team, and that the team progresses in working together, forming relationships, and holding fruitful strategic discussions. Thank you!
Our mission partner, Honduras Hope Mission, with the Rich-Mar Rotary Club and District 7280 Keystone Rotary Club, is hosting a "Walk 4 Water" event on Saturday, April 30, from 10-11 a.m., at Adams Township Park. Click here for more information and to register.
