The Lord's Supper
February 18 and 25
They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42)
We will observe the sacrament of communion each Sunday during Lent. The Lord's Supper is essential to our personal and corporate discipleship. How so? In 1 Corinthians 12, the Holy Spirit teaches us that each person is a member of the body of Christ. Each person is different from the others, serving various functions in the body. And at the head of the body is Christ.
The Lord's Supper is where our union with Christ and one another is visibly and spiritually demonstrated. The Sundays of Lent will be special this year because we will offer our unity to God at our Savior's table each week. The Session invites us to devote ourselves to the apostle's teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer.
