The national General Assembly of the EPC (Evangelical Presbyterian Church) met this week in Denver, Colorado. Our church’s Commissioners were Pastors Paul and Jeremy and Ruling Elder Al Wettach. They represented our church’s voice in voting matters and served on appointed committees:

• Pastor Paul was appointed to the Disaster Relief Committee and is the Lead Reviewer of the Committee’s minutes for last year. 

• Pastor Jeremy was appointed to the Next Gen Committee as its Recording Clerk for its meeting at GA. (Next Gen refers to EPC’s efforts to engage the Next Generations in church life)

• Al Wettach was appointed to the Theology Committee, which is one of the heavier-hitting assignments.

Our Minister of Worship and Member Care, Isaac Meyers, attended the Assembly to learn more about the EPC’s governance, attend seminars, get acquainted with Next Gen, and participate in worship every day at GA.

Psalm 13

Psalm 13—and the psalm we’ll hear next Sunday—belongs to the Psalms of Lament. These prayers give voice to seasons of distress, sorrow, and waiting, teaching us how to bring our struggles honestly before God. In fact, nearly one-third of the Psalms are laments, reminding us that God invites us to come to Him not only with praise, but also with our pain, trusting Him for help and comfort.
