MEIA Launches Climate Technology Fund to Support Diverse Founders

MEIA has officially launched the Climate Technology Founders Fund, established through Senate Bill 0960, to empower Maryland-based entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions to combat climate change. This fund prioritizes small-, minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses in the climate technology sector, providing critical support to help them scale. 

MEIA is seeking ventures that demonstrate breakthrough technology, strong market potential, and a commitment to driving both climate and economic impact in Maryland. More than just funding, this initiative strengthens the state’s advance energy ecosystem while advancing Maryland’s climate and equity goals. 

Big congratulations to BrightWave for their recent feature in Technical.ly, highlighting their cutting-edge algae-based technology for sustainable fuel solutions! Their $3 million UK contract to supply photobioreactors for renewable aviation fuel is a testament to the groundbreaking cleantech innovations emerging right here in Maryland. 

From leveraging local partnerships to scaling global impact, BrightWave is proving that Maryland is a hub for climate tech leadership.
