Wanted: Concord History!
Archival Pictures
Attention all Concord Township residents! Our community bicentennial occurs in 2022 and plans are now underway to publish a community history book. Since early 2004 township volunteers have begun the monumental task of preserving the photographs, artifacts, and images of Concord’s past. We are seeking old school photos, pictures of former famous homes, images of Concord businesses across the decades, farming pictures and photos of long-time residents. If you are in possession of a unique or old township photo, please consider donating it or sharing a copy with the township historical collection annex at the Concord Community Center.

Better yet … The week of March 4-8 is designated as Concord Township History Collections Week . Stop by the Community Center during normal business hours (8am to 4:30pm) and drop off your donations or to have your pictures and historical documents scanned into our collections archives. It will make all the difference!

Are you a longtime Concord resident? We want to hear your story! What was it like growing up in Concord? What did your ancestors do for a living? Tell us about your life in Concord! We will record your story and potentially include it in a Bicentennial video about Concord Township. Call 639-4650 for more information.

Before
After
Winter is not all about snow and ice. Service Department crews also use this time to restore and service equipment. With limited funds available to replace equipment regularly, it is imperative that we extend the service life of our current fleet. Our employees have a high regard for the equipment they use and take great pride in participating in these maintenance procedures during the winter season.
Push Ceremony

In the early spring of 1948 a group of Concord residents raised $925 to start the Concord Fire Department. Early hand drawn fire engines, ladder wagons, and hose carts had to be pushed back into a fire station after returning to quarters.

To honor our firefighting heritage and celebrate the receipt of our new rescue pumper, 1375, we will be holding a push in ceremony on Saturday April 13, 11:30 Fire Station #1 (immediately following the Township’s Easter Egg Hunt.) We invite you to help us celebrate!

Stay for lunch and fire station tours.
