Live theatre is back! Come see Statesmen Theatre’s very talented cast & crew in the first production of the year and one of William Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

In the play, four young lovers become entangled in a quarrel with fairies of the forest. Meddling, mischievousness, and magical entanglements ensue creating romantic and comedic chaos and disorder for all. The play-within-a-play format results in further antics and humor from a group of craftsmen putting on a badly performed play to celebrate the upcoming marriage of two characters.

This production takes place in Athens, Georgia in the 1980s, a time and place which spawned the modern alt-rock music scene (spawning the bands R.E.M. and the B-52s), a time and place which music critics refer to as “magical.”
