General Assembly Approves $3.59 Billion UN Budget for 2024

UN Summit of the Future

UNFOLD ZERO

COMMENTARY:

What should be a top priority but is missing in these Future Summit proposals to save the world? A strategy to replace the outdated UN Charter. There would be new hope and inspiration if the UN General Assembly and peace activists utilized the Earth Constitution as their guide, model, and authority to establish the urgently needed "new UN."  The Earth Constitution provides a  strategic focus which is absent in the upcoming Future Summit.  It also provides leadership for sincere politicians and activists frustrated with the UN's inability to end war and carry out justice.  -- Roger Kotila, Ph.D., US Vice President, World Constitution & Parliament Association

UN Summit of the Future

UNFOLD ZERO

The UN General Assembly will hold a Summit of the Future: Multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow, in September 2024. The Summit is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance cooperation on critical challenges – such as peace and the climate – and to improve global governance to better manage and resolve these issues.

Civil society is able to engage in the Summit in a number of ways.

One of these is to participate in the Global Futures Forum and the Peoples Pact for the Future which is being facilitated by the Coalition for the UN We Need.

Another is to make a submission to the facilitators of the Summit (Germany and Namibia) on elements to be included in the Pact for the Future which will be adopted by governments at the Summit.

Making a submission for the UN Summit of the Future

UNFOLD ZERO encourages organizations to make a submission for the Pact for the Future on peace and nuclear disarmament issues before the deadline of December 31, 2023.

  • Such submissions could be guided by the peace and nuclear disarmament proposals adopted in the Interim People's Pact for the Future. These were developed through consultations of hundreds of civil society organizations earlier this year on proposals for the Summit of the Future across seven thematic strands. The adopted proposals in the Peace and Security strand include those calling on governments at the UN Summit of the Future to: Support the inclusion of nuclear abolition in the post-2030 Sustainable Development Goals with the objective to achieve the global elimination of nuclear weapons no later than 2045, the 100th anniversary of the UN;

  • Commit to better prevent war (including nuclear war) by strengthening Legal Alternatives to War (LAW not War) such as universal acceptance of the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice, and by the adoption of nuclear-risk reduction measures including no-first-use policies;

  • Implement Article 26 of the UN Charter through plans and action for disarmament to release resources from the $100 Billion global nuclear weapons budget and the $2.3 trillion global military budget to instead support economic and social development.

For more information about the proposals see Final Report of the Peace and Security Consultations for the Global Futures Forum and UN Summit of the Future.

For an example of a submission please see Submission from Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons to the Summit of the Future.

The Massive Unforgivable Criminality of the U.S. Government

Eric Zuesse

EXCERPTS:  On December 13th, I submitted to all news-media “U.S. will be forever damned for its solitary support of the U.S.-Israel ethnic cleansing of Gaza”, and almost none published it, perhaps because that article compares today’s U.S. Government (as well as Israel’s) to Hitler’s Government of Germany (and exposed the hypocritical concern by the U.S. and its colonies or ‘allies’ (such as Israel, and the nations in Europe) for the Gazans today, as compared to what had been their hypocritical concern for Europe’s Jews during the Holocaust), and because the censorship in today’s news and news-commentary in the U.S. and its ‘allies’, is now comparable to what it was in Hitler’s Germany, where the censorship was almost total...

Much of the hypocrisy regarding the conflict in Gaza is based upon Israel and other U.S. colonies, falsely alleging that the conflict in Gaza began when Gazans invaded Israel on October 7th, when, in fact, it actually began back in 1948 when Israel was founded by fascist Jews (called “Zionists”) stealing the land from, and slaughtering, non-Jews, so as to clear the land in order to bring in Jews from the Christian European countries ...

Israel’s dependence on the United States was stated bluntly by retired IDF Maj. General Yitzhak Brick in an interview earlier this week: “All of our missiles, the ammunition, the precision-guided bombs, all the airplanes and bombs, it’s all from the U.S. The minute they turn off the tap, you can’t keep fighting. You have no capability. … Everyone understands that we can’t fight this war without the United States. Period.”

The nazism of today’s U.S. Government in regard to Israel is part of a much bigger picture...

EXCERPTS

As the Israeli attack on Gaza, Lebanon and Syria intensifies, the U.S. public watch on aghast. A new poll finds that Americans support a permanent ceasefire by a more than 2:1 ratio (including the vast majority of Democrats and a plurality of Republicans).

And yet, despite this, only 4% of elected members of the House support even a temporary ceasefire, and the United States continues to veto U.N. resolutions working towards ending the violence.

The most well-known and likely most influential group in the loose coalition referred to as the Israel lobby is AIPAC. With a staff of around 400 people and annual revenues that frequently top over $100 million, the organization is a huge, conservative force in American politics, flooding the system with gigantic amounts of money. Worse still, the group does not disclose the sources of its funding.

In 2022, it spent $2.3 million in a (failed) bid to stop leftist Summer Lee from being elected to Congress. However, it fared better in North Carolina, where $2 million was given to Valeria Foushee over Nida Allam, the director of Sanders’ 2016 campaign. Meanwhile, $1.2 million in donations to Henry Cuellar might have been the deciding factor in an extremely close win over progressive activist Jessica Cisneros in Texas’ 28th congressional district. And a number of prominent Michigan Democrats have come forward claiming that AIPAC offered them $20 million each to primary Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American in Congress.

EXCERPTS

All of the empirical studies have indisputably displayed that the U.S. Government is a dictatorship over its own people, and is being hidden from the U.S.-and-allied publics in order for the U.S. regime to be able to be believed when it and its colonies (‘allies’) claim to justify their coups and invasions of other countries (such as Ukraine 2014, Libya 2011, Syria 2011-now, Iraq 2003, Guatemala 1954, Iran 1953, Chile 1973, etc.) by saying that they are against ‘authoritarianism’ or ‘dictatorship’ and in favor of ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’. It’s all lies not only against the targeted Governments but for the ones that are targeting them to become conquered (to become U.S. colonies).

Right now, this megamaniacally criminal regime is supplying the weapons and strategy and military intelligence to the Israeli regime’s soldiers to exterminate all Gazans unless some of the Gazans can finally be forced out into the desert to be starved to death there.

A new U.N. and international criminal court needs to be created by the leaderships of both Russia and China, and inviting all decent nations to join this new U.N. and to abandon and replace the existing organization, so as to bring about the empowered U.N. that the entirety of humanity now increasingly desperately and urgently needs in order to prevent neocon psychopaths from conquering the entire world (such as the U.S. regime unquestionably intends to do). What Hitler’s regime was during the 1930s, was the German version of what America’s regime is right now; his aimed for WW II and America’s aims for WW III. It must be stopped before it gets there.

How Israel Buys Support From Celebrities & Influencers

Lee Camp

Editor's note:  Lee Camp provides an explanation in this 8-minute video for the fact that Israel appears to "own" the US government. While President Biden pretends to oppose the Zionist agenda (which is to destroy Palestinian homes and steal all Palestinian lands), in shameful reality the Israeli Zionist criminal project to establish a "greater Israel" (seize all of the 'Promised Land') has been supported by the U.S. President and Congress.

What's missing in Camp's analysis is that politicians are not only being "bribed" (big AIPAC donations) but also possibly blackmailed. For example, the Epstein-Maxwell honey-pot trap is suspected to have been run by the CIA and/or Israeli Mossad, a secret operation videotaping VIPs having sex with minors who then became subject to blackmail. (See Whitney Webb One Nation Under Blackmail, Vol. 2, 2022) -- R. Kotila, Ph.D.

General Assembly approves $3.59 billion UN budget for 2024 - UN News

The General Assembly has approved a $3.59 billion budget for the United Nations for 2024, including the establishment of a special account to finance the Organization’s peacebuilding fund. For other UN news go to: news.un.org

Editor's noteIt's hard to believe that the UN's budget is so small, -- less than that of the the New York City police department or the City of San Francisco!  If the Earth Constitution were to replace the undemocratic UN Charter, then such a "new UN" with a democratic World Parliament would have a reliable and adequate source of funding, and could not be manipulated by Bully nations who threaten to withdraw funding if they don't get what they want. In short, a "new UN" utilizing the Earth Constitution gains the UN (or Earth Federation government) the freedom and the means to better help nations in need and the world community at large. -- R. Kotila, Ph.D. DWF NEWS
