Love Is In The Air At Mathnasium!

Yes, love is in the air – and in our center! We can’t help but spread our love of math.

Every child has their own strengths and challenges, and Mathnasium’s teaching approach was designed to give each student the personalized instruction they need to catch up, keep up, and get ahead.

Whether in-center or online, our expert instructors help students truly understand the way math works. As their comprehension grows, so does their natural love of learning. The confidence they develop extends to other subjects as well, which is why Mathnasium students make huge strides in the classroom and in life.

We love working with your child and are excited about the progress they're making. Make sure to book a parent conference as you are learning about your child's benchmark scores for MAP, STAAR, or just MOY (middle of the year) testing.

There are always so many cool things happening here at the center and in our community. This month we had a successful Math Night at Masters Elementary and we've got Hartman Elementary coming up at the end of the month. We do all the planning, bring games, and set everything up so that all the staff needs to do is come and play games.

How do I level up? It's one of our most asked questions. Each student is assessed, skills are added in to create a learning plan, and once all the skills are mastered a student will level up. It's a big reason to celebrate around here.

Sponsoring the JSTEM robotics team is another way we partner up with schools. This year we provided the kit that the team uses to prepare and compete. Each year teams have to buy a new kit to compete in the theme for the year. So although they can uses pieces from last year's kit they would not be able to compete without the current kit. I love getting to watch them work together.

We Love Our Instructors!

Mathnasium instructors are dedicated, enthusiastic, and compassionate and have a true desire to help kids learn to love math. We think they're awesome — and our students do, too. This is Christian. He is a junior at UTSA and is studying Biochemistry and is our instructor of the month. Visit our webpage to learn more about our rockstar team!

Math In Nature: Ice Crystals

Did you know that ice crystals are fractals? It's true! The starting point of the fractal is in the middle and, as they form, they expand outward, exhibiting similar patterns at increasingly smaller scales. This property is called "self-similarity" or "unfolding symmetry."

Isn't math in nature wondrous?
