USF’s graduate full-time MBA program broke into the top 75 on the 2023-2024 Best Business Schools national rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. The program clinched the No. 73 spot, this being the first time it landed among the top 100 schools in the country.

A new crop of cybersecurity threat hunters graduated this spring from the 2023 USF ReliaQuest Labs program. The intensive labs train participants how to detect and neutralize cyber threats. Since 2018, the program has taught over 350 students in an effort to fill the immense talent gap in cybersecurity.

Student entrepreneurial teams competed head-to-head in the inaugural HUSTLE competition. The joint initiative challenged teams to run a hot food kiosk vending business in the ultimate experiential learning project. The first-place team won $75K, second won $25K, and third won $10K.

Students from six Florida universities pitched their health innovation ideas at the 10th annual Florida Blue Pitch Competition. The prize-winning ideas included earbuds to monitor brain health, a mental health coaching app for college students, and care package boxes to help heal trauma.

Humans will break the longevity record and live past 122, according to a study co-authored by Po-Lin Wang, an assistant professor in the Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance. The research and its implications are explained in a Popular Mechanics article.

Based on the 84 new patents secured during the 2022 calendar year, USF is 14th among American public research universities and 35th among all universities worldwide in generating new patents. Muma College of Business Professor Balaji Padmanabhan is among those patent holders.

Jong Chool Park, an assistant professor at the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, received the Spring 2023 Advisory Council Outstanding Teaching Award at the Beta Alpha Psi Scholarship Banquet.
Dipayan Biswas, the Frank Harvey Endowed Professor of Marketing at the School of Marketing and Innovation, was featured in the Harvard Business Review’s May-June print edition in an article about research related to caffeine’s effects on shoppers.
Lei Wedge, an associate professor in the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance, was quoted in the article “Tampa Bay home sales are down. Why are real estate prices still rising?” in the Tampa Bay Times.

Douglas Campoli (‘88, BS, Finance) was appointed chief financial officer of Envirotech Vehicles, Inc, a company that provides zero-emission heavy-duty electric vehicles.
Robert Darin Grimm (‘21, DBA) was named senior vice president of claims at Summit Consulting, a company that manages five workers’ compensation insurance companies in the southeast.
Ahad Khan (‘13, BS, Accounting) has a new job as vice president of transaction advisory services at Portage Point Partners. He is a former USF Muma College of Business 25 Under 25 honoree.
Ashley Conyers (‘21, MBA) was selected to participate in the Marshall-Motley Scholars Program by the Legal Defense Fund.
Daniel Chapman (‘18, BS, Finance) has a new role as a vice president at Bank of America on their Global Corporate and Investment Banking Credit team, covering the specialty finance industry. He is a former USF Muma College of Business 25 Under 25 honoree.

Sean Schrader, the campus governor at USF's St. Petersburg campus and first-year MBA student, represented USF at the 2023 United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum.
The forum is a key platform for youth leaders to participate in the work of the United Nations.
World youth leaders gathered at the U.N. to accelerate the COVID-19 recovery and to implement youth-specific Sustainable Development Goal targets. The three-day event featured youth speakers and gave them a platform to share their vision for major upcoming United Nations meetings.
