Dear Staff,
I would like to begin this edition of Limelight with a few words about our friend and colleague, George Singfield, who passed away in April. George served our organization for over six decades and left an indelible mark not just on ACLD, but the I/DD community in New York State as a whole. He was a source of unwavering strength, wisdom and kindness. His work, values, dedication to ACLD and commitment to the people we support left an lasting legacy on all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
As many of you know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge the importance of our mental health and well-being, and to reflect on how we can support one another in our community. Your mental health is as important as your physical health, and it's essential that we foster an environment where everyone feels supported and heard. We all have a role to play in creating a workplace that is open, compassionate, and respectful of our colleagues' needs. In this edition of Limelight, we will share some tips on how to make your mental health a priority in the workplace.
In May, we proudly celebrate Clinicians Week alongside Teacher Appreciation Week, two groups of our workforce who play a vital role in our organization and mission. We are grateful to each and every one of you. May is also Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month—a time to reflect on and recognize the significant contributions that Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) have made to our collective history.
Coming up this month, we also have our Town Hall Meetings on Zoom. These Town Hall Meetings. We encourage all employees to attend a Town Hall Meeting each time they are offered to stay up to date.
In this edition of Limelight, you will find details on the upcoming return of Food Truck Fridays, see a new episode of Enviable Life News and receive other news and information from across the agency.
Sincerely,
Rob, Kim, Gerard and Anne Marie
Robert Ciatto, President/CEO
Kim Leonard, Chief Financial Officer
Gerard DiMuro, Chief Administrative Officer
Anne Marie Sime, Chief Program Officer

President/CEO Rob Ciatto will host the Quarter 2 town halls in May.
Due to high participation in the past several meetings and our limitations on Zoom, we ask that each employee only attend one meeting per quarter. We will also record one session per quarter that we will make available for all staff to access after the meeting.

Additionally, the 807 building welcomed participants at the B.L.U.E. day program as they sold items for Autism Acceptance Month. Great job to Frenal Melizas and the entire team! | | SLF Apartment Program BINGO Night! | | Last month, Poonam Rampal and TracyAnn Morgan hosted a BINGO night for the SLF Apartment Program on the Bethpage Campus. The group had a great time and won some awesome prizes like ACLD swag, candy and more!
