Sermon & Readings

This Sunday, June, we again welcome The Rev. Dr. D. Elizabeth "Betsey" Mauro to the pulpit. Her sermon will be "Worry-free Gardening".
From Barbara Collins,
Director of Religious Education
This Sunday, June 2, is Communion Sunday. There will be Nursery Care (birth-age 4) and Sunday School (age 4 - Grade 5). The Youth Discussion Group will NOT meet but youth are invited to join the Sunday School for a VeggieTale video . This is the last day of Nursery Care and Sunday School until the autumn.

Youth Discussion Group
Youth Discussion Group (for youth in grades 6-12), led by Jenn Surdam, will resume in the Fall on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month.
From Jack Bowman, Minister of Music
This Sunday is the first Sunday of the month and we launch our Summer Choir which is open to all, regardless of singing ability. Whether you can read music or not, or have a great voice, or not, if you want to enjoy singing some fun music, join us on Sunday morning at 9:15 am in the organ loft. We will sing an easy, unison anthem to the praise of God. No robes; Summer casual dress.

Our anthem this Sunday is entitled My Kind of Music written in 1970 by Richard Avery and Donald Marsh.

Step out from your comfort zone and join us for Summer Choir!

Soli Deo Gloria,   Jack
Church Office Update
Effective immediately, we are implementing a new security measure for the church staff: If any of the staff is in the building alone, then the Library Street door will remain locked.

If you stop by the church during office hours and the door is locked, please press the button to the left of the door to call the office. The staff person will then come down and open the door for you!
Save the Dates!
On Sunday, June 16, we will celebrate the Commissioning of the Silver Lake Summer Staff during worship.

On Sunday, June 23, we will worship at Silver Lake Conference Center, 223 Low Road, Sharon CT at 10:00 a.m. (There will be no worship service in the Meeting House on this day.)
Anyone who would like to carpool to Silver Lake should gather at the Meeting House: at 9:30 a.m. and we will caravan to Silver Lake together.

May Deacon’s Message:
“Staying in the Question”
Lorna Duphiney Edmundson, Deacon
With the wonder of Easter still very fresh and warm weather likely on the way, I find myself shaking off the sluggishness of winter and leaning into new possibilities. I’m enjoying asking more questions than arriving at definitive answers.

“Stay in the question”, one of my favorite mentors always said. Hold open the possibility that there is more to learn, more to explore, more to ponder. I watched her put this to practice on many occasions in conversations with others, gently leaning in, posing questions, searching for nuance. And then she would listen – listen deeply – listen with appreciation – conveying interest and respect. As you might imagine, she, in turn, was dearly loved and respected and taught me much about keeping an open heart and open mind, especially when all around you are losing theirs!
