The residents of western Palm Beach County have found themselves in the position of being forced to defend themselves against a proposed hyperscale data center. They called TMS government relations services to help them navigate the Palm Beach County Commission, Florida Legislature and Federal officials. To provide context, these hyperscale data centers are 10 times the size of regular data centers. The one proposed for the property 1,200 feet from Saddle View Elementary and the Arden Community is just under 4 million square feet and will use between 3.5 and 4.2 billion gallons of our water annually. Far more than their neighbor, the Village of Wellington. It will require its own power plant or consume a critical amount of capacity from the power grid. There will be vibrations, pollutants emitted, noise and other troubling impacts. We worked with Representative Meg Weinberger to resurrect HB 1007, draft amendments, and provide information. We are now meeting with County Commissioners and staff to stop or mitigate damaging impacts. The project goes before the Commissioners on April 23, 2026. |
