Weekly Bulletin
Distance Learning during COVID-19
Grades Class and Specialty teachers will use the Google Classroom platform for Distance Learning while school is closed.  For Grades 1 to 8, to the extent possible, the manner of instruction via distance learning is to be true to a Waldorf curriculum while the student is at home. Distance learning and instruction will begin on Monday, March 23. The faculty is already considering what instruction might look like if closings are extended.

We will send a separate communication this Friday to all families in grades 1 to 8 with instructions for how to access Google Classroom assignments and curriculum. You can reach out to your child's teacher at any point with questions. Thank you so much for your flexibility and patience through this process.

Entering the Building during COVID-19 Closures
The safety of our school community is paramount at a time such as this. While school is closed, building entry will be closely monitored and is discouraged unless absolutely necessary. If parents need any items from the building they should reach out to their child's teacher for support.

If you are a faculty, board, or community member coming into the building, you must sign in and out, even if just coming in for a moment. The sign in and out sheets are located at the front entrance near the alarm system and the Early Childhood hall entry doors.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be rescheduled.
Parent-Teacher conferences initially scheduled for March 20 and 23 are postponed.  Parents are encouraged to call or email their child's classroom or specialty teacher should they have questions about their student’s progress. Teachers will contact parents of students who are experiencing problems with their assignments.
Administrative Announcements
Financial Aid Timeline Update
Last week, TADS completed the audit of the majority of our families financial aid applications, enabling RWS to take the next step and make award decisions. Families whose applications are complete can expect to hear by next week with details of their 2020-2021 financial aid award. If your situation is the same as last year, you can likely expect to receive about the same amount of financial aid. If you have not submitted required documentation to the TADS portal, your application will not be reviewed. Any delays in providing documents will result in a delay in reviewing your request for assistance. Thank you for your patience!

RWS relies on TADS to verify the accuracy of each application and to provide guidance on each household's possible contribution towards tuition. RWS then reviews these recommendations as well as each families need relative to others, the total tuition burden, and policy guidelines. While the school recognizes that we cannot fully meet everyone's need. We strive to make fair and reasonable awards that ensure the financial well being of the school while enabling our valued families to remain in our community, as well as to allow new families from diverse backgrounds and experiences to benefit from Waldorf education.

We hope that any family concerned about their ability to afford Richmond Waldorf School will have a conversation with Valerie Hogan or Nancy Cross.

Any questions about your financial aid or the process can be directed to Valerie Hogan .
Re-Enrollment for 2020-2021 Continues through April 3
Despite school closures, we are still working hard remotely, and this includes the enrollment office! The re-enrollment period ends on Friday, April 3 and we hope that all students will successfully complete their enrollment agreements by that time. Families who have not re-enrolled yet should have received a reminder email from TADS with the link to access your agreement.

We know that these uncertain times are impacting us all in many ways. If you have any questions or concerns, we strongly encourage a conversation.
Goodbye S eñor  Diego
Dear RWS Community,
It is with great sadness that we announce the resignation of Diego Cusano, our Spanish Teacher.  Señor   Diego has been a teacher at our school for many years, touching the lives of all of our children. His love of the children, their families, and his colleagues has been evident in all of his actions. In every moment he has brought compassion, wisdom, positivity, and a constant willingness to help. We are deeply grateful for all he has done to develop and implement our Spanish Program. If you have not done so already, please reach out to him to share your gratitude and good wishes for his future. His last day will be March 20. Thank you, Señor   Diego ! We will miss you!!!
