GIRL SCOUT COOKIES

Girl Scout Troop 31013 sold Girl Scout Cookies at church on Sunday, February 8, after both services. In addition to individual sales, the church bought $300 worth of cookies to send to military troops serving overseas via the Care for Heroes organization that the church supports every Christmas. A check for these cookies was presented to the girls when they attended the 10:30 worship service.

Pictured here are Laura Roden, co troop leader, Madelyn Roden, Daphne Dupuis, and Jody Dupuis, co troop leader.

NEW PROJECT BY THE SEWING & CRAFT CIRCLE

Last Sunday this basket was delivered to a family that had a tragedy over the holidays. It is the first in a continuing project initiated by the Sewing & Craft Circle that meets each Thursday afternoon to engage in and share creative craft projects

Deborah Carrington started this sewing/craft circle a few years ago. She describes the thinking behind this initiative as follows:

“Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church has enjoyed a 100 year history of worship in the "heart of Hobe Sound," which is Zeus Park. Throughout the years, the members and friends of the church have sought to shine the light of Jesus Christ into the community through social events and special functions.

“Now that we are in our 100th year, the church is reaching out to the neighborhood, through the sewing/craft circle, in order to let them know that we're more than just a building in Zeus Park. We care about those who live around us and are demonstrating that by distributing "Good News" Baskets. Once a need/situation is identified, a basket is custom crafted for that purpose and is hand delivered to the recipient(s.) In doing so, HSCPC wishes to demonstrate our caring interest to the community.

The contents of each Good News Basket will be personalized for each recipient. However, each basket will contain: a handwritten card; an item made by the Sewing Circle; a "Be Our Guest" card for a Mission dinner; our Hobe Sound sticker and bookmark; and a list of activities that occur at the church. The basket that was given this week also contained some other gifts that directly related to the family's situation."

Please feel free to make the church aware of a potential beneficiary by contacting the Sewing Circle. We are also grateful for any ideas and/or support in any form that you feel comfortable giving.

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS

Throughout this year, the Centennial Committee will be sharing a series of banners as quiet reminders of faith. These banners on the church gates leading to the courtyard were lovingly created by Cindy Fucigna

These Valentine banners share a simple message from God:

🧩 I Love Every Piece Of You ❤️

We are known, loved, and gently held together by God’s grace.

Among the many Centennial Celebration events to be held throughout the year are a series of CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION CONCERTS. The first of these concerts was held on Sunday, January 25, featuring “The Coastal Winds” a distinguished ensemble of accomplished musicians who share their artistry at concerts and special events throughout the Treasure Coast.

The next CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION CONCERT will be

Centennial Concert II

HOBE SOUND COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

BUILDING ON A STRONG FOUNDATION

On January 10, 1926, Hobe Sound Community Church was organized under the supervision of the Presbyterian Church, USA.

As we looked toward our 100th birthday, and made plans for the exciting centennial celebration to take place in the year 2026, we also began an ambitious and much needed Building Improvement Plan extending through 2025, and beyond. All donations to this fund-raising campaign to help maintain and preserve our historical church facility have been warmly received and appreciated

THE FIRST PHASE OF THE BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PLAN consisted of installation of new storm resistant windows in the Sanctuary and Manse, and accompanying needed repairs.

THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of renovations in the kitchen and fellowship hall.

THE THIRD PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of repair and painting of the church steeple.

THE FOURTH (AND FINAL) PHASE will be replacement of the church roof and attached structures. Fund raising projects are continuously underway to make this major and expensive project possible.
