ABOUT SUNDAY WORSHIP

WE WELCOME YOU IN OUR SANCTUARY EVERY SUNDAY FOR
WORSHIP AT 10:30AM

Whether you attend church in-person or worship with us via Facebook Live, you are all beloved members of our church family.

FELLOWSHIP HOUR is held in the Fellowship Hall following the Sunday Worship Service.

The hostess this week is Debra Monet and helpers. All are welcome to come and enjoy good food and good fellowship with your church friends. We especially welcome our church visitors.

Our good friend Janet Jones passed on to eternal life on September 10, 2025. At that time no service plans were available.

Janet was a faithful member of our congregation for many years, until health issues made it impossible for her to continue attending our worship services.

A memorial service has now been planned for this Saturday, November 8, at 10:30AM at Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, with refreshments served in the Fellowship

Hall following the service.

EXCITING NEWS ABOUT THE SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES !!

It is wonderful to see continually increasing attendance at the Sunday Worship Services. Following Thanksgiving the snow birds will begin arriving for the winter season, and attendance will increase even more, challenging the Sanctuary’s ability to seat everyone comfortably.

Therefore, starting on November 30, the first Sunday of Advent, and continuing through Easter Sunday, HSCPC will be offering two Worship Services on Sunday mornings, adding a service at 8:30 AM in addition to the traditional 10:30AM service. The two services will be identical, so no matter which service you choose to attend you will have the same wonderful worship experience.

FROM THE HSCPC CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE

The photos for the church directory are done for now. Another photo opportunity will be available in January for those snowbirds still coming back or those of you who didn’t get them done this past month.

But, we are still working on THE CENTENNIAL PROGRAM that will be used for the Saturday and Sunday Anniversary Services on January 10 and 11. This Program will highlight the events that will be taking place during 2026; some of which are musical programs, 4th of July Celebration, a Sunday service vintage dress up  day, T-Shirt Sunday, our nation’s 250th birthday celebration,  a ladies tea or luncheon, a time capsule burial and a Bar-B-Que under the stars. It will also include content such as personal messages and memories from members and friends, advertisements from local businesses you frequent and recommend.

We would like more participation in the personal content, and encourage you to participate in this special section of the Program. If you need a form they will be in the back of the Sanctuary with the ushers. The deadline for submission is November 16.

2026 Church Anniversary TIME CAPSULE IDEAS

One of the planned events for the celebration of our centennial year will be the constructing and burying of a time capsule to be opened in 50 years, 2076!!

The Centennial Committee is looking for suggestions as to what you would like to see buried in the capsule. The Committee will go thru the list of ideas to see what seems to be common, favorites or unusual. They can be faith based, collectibles, current or past events, favorite book or movie titles, etc. If you have any small personal item you would like to donate please let us know about that too.

Please submit any ideas to Kathy Oldham, including your name and phone number. If you are in church on Sunday you will find a form inserted in the Worship Bulletin. You can fill it out and hand it to an usher following the Church Service. Deadline for suggestions is Nov. 23.

SHAWLS AVAILABLE IN THE SANCTUARY: It can sometimes get a bit chilly in the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings. The members of the Sewing and Craft Circle have made some shawls that are available for use during the worship service if needed. They can be found at the back of the church by the fire extinguisher. You are welcome to help yourself, being sure to return them after the service.

THE HOLIDAY MISSION PROJECTS ARE ONGOING

Each year HSCPC begins the Holiday Season by supporting OPERATION CARE FOR HEROES and collecting snack items to be sent to our active military troops stationed overseas during the holidays. Monetary donations are also accepted to help pay for mailing services.

This year three (3) full boxes of snacks were collected, as well as $1,000 in monetary donations (The most ever donated for this particular cause)

In addition, children from member Leann Kindberg’s first grade class made Christmas cards to be sent to the troops along with the snack packages.

You are a hero

We love that you protect us every day

Dear Soldiers, Merry Christmas

Thank you for your service

Stay safe. "

THANKSGIVING MISSION PROJECT

Each year at Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church we take up a special food collection for the HOUSE OF HOPE to help provide food for the Thanksgiving holiday. This year, through our Mission Fund we will be donating $200 for turkeys, and through our traditional food collection we will be donating “Thanksgiving-specific” non-perishable food to complete the holiday table.

Suggested food items include canned or packaged potatoes, stuffing mix, gravy, canned sweet potatoes, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, and whatever else you might like to have on your Thanksgiving table.

Your generous food donations will be a blessing to many needy families. Donated food items can be brought to the church on Sunday mornings through November 9th or to the church office at any time before November 9th , during office hours (9AM to noon). Monetary donations toward the turkeys are also welcome and checks should be made out to the church and identified as for the turkeys.

DON’T BE ALONE FOR THANKSGIVING

Several years ago, Carla Tinsley and her mother Gail Shriver asked for permission to use the church Fellowship Hall and kitchen for a rather large family gathering for Thanksgiving dinner. They invited any church members and friends who might otherwise be spending the holiday alone to join them. This started what has become a Thanksgiving tradition at HSCPC. It has grown in attendance with each year and is always a wonderful day of feasting and fellowship.

Sadly, Gail has passed on to eternal life, but Carla is continuing to host Thanksgiving dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Carla will prepare the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Guests are asked to bring a dish to share. This will be an opportunity to share your favorite Thanksgiving dish and memories. The festivities will begin at 2:00 PM, Nov. 27. If you are planning on attending, you are most welcome to bring a guest.

Starting on Sunday, November 9, a reservation form will be included in the worship bulletin. and reservations should be made by November 20 . Reservations will also be taken by phone in the church office, 772 546-5043. The only cost for this event is the dish you bring to

HOBE SOUND COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

BUILDING ON A STRONG FOUNDATION

On January 10, 1926, Hobe Sound Community Church was organized under the supervision of the Presbyterian Church, USA.

As we look toward our 100th birthday, we are making plans for the exciting centennial celebration to take place in the year 2026. These plans include an ambitious and much needed Building Improvement Plan extending through 2025, and beyond. All donations to this fund-raising campaign to help maintain and preserve our historical church facility will be warmly received and appreciated

THE FIRST PHASE OF THE BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PLAN consisted of installation of new storm resistant windows in the Sanctuary and Manse, and accompanying needed repairs.

THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of renovations in the kitchen and fellowship hall.

THE THIRD PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of repair and painting of the church steeple.

THE FOURTH (AND FINAL) PHASE will be replacement of the church roof and attached structures. Fund raising projects are continuously underway to make this major and expensive project possible, hopefully before the beginning of the Centennial Celebration next January
