St. Michael's Academy
 :

It was a busy last week of March at St. Michael's Academy.

Our students made their Lenten confessions, we inducted seventh and eighth graders into our National Junior Honor Society, our middle level students participated in the taping of the Chalice of Salvation Mass (to be aired at 10:00AM Sunday on Ch. 22), our SCHOOLS NEXT team competed at the regional competition in Boston and we dedicated a full day of school to character education and anti-bullying education for faculty, students and parents.

Our presenter for the day had valuable information to share with all his different audiences. His magic assemblies were especially a big hit with the students! Thank you parents for supporting this education effort by coming out Wednesday night for his presentation. When we share a common understanding and use the same language it can only strengthen our school culture and benefit our children.

Looking forward to a quiet weekend, before we start all over again on Monday!

Peace and God's blessing,

Ann E. Dougal

8th Grade Is A Busy Place

Well once again, and as difficult as it may be to believe, we are only days away from the beginning of the fourth quarter of the 2018-2019 School Year.

Our Eighth Grade has been extremely busy as of late, engaged in the preparation of both Poetry Café and the Living Stations of the Cross.

With specific reference to the Living Stations of the Cross, this year will represent a "first" for its presentation. In past years, the students, who represented the various roles in the production, would merely perform the motions called for by the Station being read by the Narrator. This year, the students assigned to the specific roles, will actually act out the part being played by reciting the appropriate dialogue. This significant change has presented the very real challenge of not only memorizing the dialogue applicable to their roles, but also of trying to convey to the audience the necessary emotions associated with the words being spoken. And although our students are not professional actors and actresses, they have been working quite diligently to meet this challenge. In past years, our eighth grade students have always "risen to the occasion", and we are confident that they will do so again.

So, please be sure to attend this year's presentation of the Living Stations of the Cross on April 12, 2019. For your convenience , there will be a 9:30 a.m. presentation and a 1:30 p.m. presentation.

We will look forward to seeing you there!

Scapulars

Grade 2 Has A Special Visitor

Thank Your Mrs. Mashia!

Our second graders had a special visit this week! Mrs. Mashia, who is a Third Order  Carmelite, came to educate the children about Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the devotion to the Scapular. Often referred to as "The Scapular Lady," Mrs. Mashia comes in every year to talk with the students in preparation for First Communion.

Dine and Donate

 Texas Roadhouse...Here We Come!

Want to have a great meal and build community (and earn some money for our school) ? Well here is your chance!

On Monday, April 1st, Texas Roadhouse will be having a "Dine and Donate for St. Michael's Academy" night!  Whether you dine in or take it to go, ten percent of what Texas Roadhouse brings in that evening will be donated back to St. Michael's Academy.

Mondays are also kid's night.   Kids meals are only $1.99 and they will have a balloon artist there too!

So let's get our SMA family together and enjoy a great meal!  Your child will be coming home with a flyer and that flyer MUST be presented to the server the evening of the event.  They will NOT provide them at the door.

 Lost and Found

Are You Missing Anyt hing?

Our Lost and Found bin is overflowing with items that students have lost.  Please take a moment to check the bin if your child has lost anything.  We even have a nice Hamilton Beach crockpot that needs to go back to its owner!  It was brought in for the teacher's luncheon during Catholic Schools Week.  If it's yours, you can claim it in the main office.

And speaking of losing things, please put your child's name or initials on articles for easy identification. We don't like to see your hard-earned money buy things that end up in the lost and found!
