Is yurt heart at Camp Walter Scott?
Our region is very proud of our camping ministry, and we want to continue changing the lives of future generations. Some major repairs/ renovations are planned to help us do just that.

In the Fall of 2018, we will be replacing the roof of the dining hall and restoring the bath house facility on the south side of the lake.

In addition to these projects, several others are in the planning phase. This is where we need your help! Your Matching Grant contributions will go toward the purchase and installation of 10 yurts, complete with bunkbeds and electricity, and a splash pad.

Please prayerfully consider a contribution to this program. If you want to make a difference, donate now and your impact will be doubled by the CCIW Matching Fund Campaign. CCIW will match contributions up to $100,000.

We encourage your gifts (www.cciwdisciples.org) by March 31, 2019 to benefit the 2019 camping season.
Spiritual Growth

New Adult Sunday School Class continues, meeting in #129 after the 9:00 a.m. service (on break October 28). All are welcome for topical studies and studies about books of the Bible. Currently, the group is involved with the Rob Bell NOOMA DVD series.
 Listening to God Update

Prayer Groups continue meeting, with over 90 FCC folks involved, and will continue into November. Each Prayer Group has a leader and follows a guided plan and format.  Visit the church website (click on the praying hands graphic on the home page) for examples of Lectio Divina and other prayer methods, and guidance for creating a spiritual autobiography. Outlines for completed weeks’ sessions are also on the website page.

A note from your Spiritual Growth Ministry Stewards:
As we’ve been involved in numerous prayer group meetings, at least two things are emerging. We are (hopefully) getting closer in reaching a consensus about how we view FCC’s future ministries, and we are forming a deeper appreciation for those in our groups.

Corporate worship is important, but greeting one another for a few minutes once a week does not offer the opportunity to really know a person. Our small groups, however, have been rich in understanding on a deeper level. This realization has brought many who would like to see small group gatherings continue. As of now, there are two adult Sunday School classes that meet after the 9:00 service. We would also like to offer a book club based on contemporary Christian literature to be explored by small groups. We envision fluidity in our groups as we would likely have different book offerings, times of day/night, and length of study.
Please give this some prayerful thought and give us some feedback as we explore this idea more fully.

Yours in Christ,
Bill Robitske and Patty Thompson

Gifts for Another Table Please continue to participate by bringing items in October for the Salvation Army, a great community member.  Needed items include: rice & rice dinners, potato dinners, pasta of any kind, pasta sauce, Hamburger Helper, dinner meals, cereal, mashed/boxed potatoes, and canned fruits and vegetables. In November we will collect other types of items for the Regional Alternative School.
Start Fresh is a program that area churches are participating in to help men who are exiting from Lincoln Correctional Center and beginning their lives outside of incarceration. New or gently used winter coats, hats, and gloves are needed. There is a tote next to the Information Center for your donations.
Abundant Life Meal for November 18 will be moved to November 25 due to our all-church celebration/meal in conclusion of our Prayer groups. We need servers and those who can help with desserts or meal preparation. Contact Julie Robinson at [email protected] . On Sunday October 21, we served ham, scalloped potatoes, broccoli and rice casserole, and dessert. Those we serve are so appreciative of a home-cooked meal. Please consider helping with this outreach project.

“Listening to God: A Solid Foundation”
Jesus tells about two houses: one built on rock and the other on sand. The former survives the storm, and the latter was destroyed. Our lives – and our church – need to be built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ.
