Priority News!
Meet the Neighbors
We have intentionally stayed on the corner of Jefferson, Lee, Monroe and Roosevelt for many years as a source for our neighborhood. Of course you can meet your neighbors from anywhere, even your own neighborhood.
First Christian has met our neighbors in many ways over the years: a low income daycare center, Block Party, numerous ice cream socials, and picnics on our property just to name a few.
In the next few weeks we will talk about more ways we can “Meet our Neighbors. “ We are actually very
good at it!
Julie Robinson,
Reach Out Steward
p.s. See the light yellow Reach Out/Meet the Neighbors box for events and news!
Spiritual Growth/Small Groups
Our 11 small groups continue to thrive. There will be a Celebration for all those who are in a small group, and all others who are interested in the possibility of an Advent small group meeting twice in December. Sunday, November 17, at 11:30 a.m., you are invited to a lunch and a reveal of the Advent small group devotional. Those who attend will be the first to receive the FCC Advent ornament! Please RSVP by November 10 in your small group or at the Info Desk.
Property Use
Fibers of Love will be using FCC once again beginning in January. Other groups we host regularly: Don Shandrow’s theatre groups, Seedling Theatre, Boys & Girls Club, Bridge Group, Narcotics Anonymous, and Square Dancers.

Gifts for Another Table
In November we will collect items for the Center for Hope food pantry. Let’s help them with the following items: peanut butter, rice and rice dinners, potato dinners, pasta of any kind, pasta sauce, Hamburger Helper, dinner meals, cereal, mashed/boxed potatoes, and canned fruits and vegetables. Thank you!
Abundant Life Church Meals
FCC will be serving on November 24 and December 15. It is time to sign up at the Info Desk to help or provide food for the November meal. For information, contact Julie Robinson at [email protected].
Teacher Wish Lists
Reach Out is collecting supplies for Sheridan and Bent Schools’ teachers. Please find a display at the Info Desk with specific needs on pick-and-take tabs.
Bed Blitz
was a huge success. Several adults and youth from our church helped build beds and 100 kids now have their own beds to sleep in. We will be having a mini-blitz at our church in the future. There were more applications for beds than could be filled on the day of the Blitz.
Sharing the Warmth Winter Outer Wear Collection
A note from Second Presbyterian Church Outreach: Thanks to you and your congregation's generous donations, Start Fresh men's clothing ministry has served over 600 men with gently used clothing coming out of Lincoln Correctional Center over the past 30 months. This helps them start a new life of freedom and shows them God's love. THANK YOU!
We are now in need of starting our annual collection of winter outer wear for the men. We need gently used or new winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves of all sizes. We especially need large sizes. Thanks in advance for, "Sharing the Warmth!"
Adopt a Family
Descriptions of items needed will be on a tree starting November 3 at the Info Desk. We are sponsoring a family of five (three girls and parents). Items will be due on Sunday, December 1. A co-coordinator for this effort is greatly needed. Contact Julie Robinson at [email protected]. Thank you!

November Meeting
The Disciples Women's Ministry group will meet on Thursday, November 7, at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room. The subject of our study will be "Healing of the Sick, Blind, and Demon Possessed." Our study will be from Matthew 9:18-34.
We have completed our work on "Operation Santa.” We met our goal of 150 stockings. Walmart donated a $75 gift card to use for items to put in the stockings.
We have learned of a new project (in cooperation with St. Luke Union Church) called "Benches from (Bottle) Caps." Caps and lids will be upcycled into a bench with the help of Green Tree Plastics. Almost any plastic cap or lid can be used. There will be a container at the Info Desk for donations. Please bring rinsed and clean caps and lids to put in the container. Types of caps accepted include caps from medicine bottles, milk jugs, detergent, hair spray, toothpaste, deodorant, apple sauce pouches, drink bottles, spray paint, ointment tubes, baby food, and shampoo/conditioner. Also, lids from cottage cheese containers, mayonnaise jars, yogurt, peanut butter jars, ice cream buckets, cool whip containers, coffee cans, cream cheese containers, margarine containers, and Pringles are acceptable. Caps and lids must be Recycle #2, 4, or 5.
We will be following the progress of the Boys and Girls Club here at First Christian Church. We hope to help if needed. They will be developing a wish list for all of our church members.
Please join us at our meeting if you can. All women are welcome!

are included in each

When you find it necessary to find a substitute, please try to trade with someone else and don’t forget to tell the church office at 309-829-9327 or [email protected] as soon as you can.
Knowing who is actually serving is important to the staff and leadership for various reasons. Thank you for your help!
