Sanctuary air conditioner replacement update:
The Building & Grounds ministry team has been hard at work having engineers look into options. We we are now in the process of obtaining bids.

Bottom line: we will be worshiping in the Fellowship Hall for several months to come - probably until the weather changes so that we can worship in the sanctuary without air conditioning.

After the first few weeks of adjusting to our worship space in the Fellowship Hall, I have come to appreciate the change, and I think most of you have, as well. Might be something to consider in following summers.

We've had a summer of wonderful music during worship while the Chancel Choir has been on summer break. But as always, it will be a joy to welcome the choir back on August 13.

I want to again express gratitude to Betsy Guyer, our Christian Education moderator, for organizing such a meaningful intergenerational Vacation Church School in July, and her idea of incorporating the 2 Sundays on either side as part of the VCS experience for the entire congregation. Thanks to all who contributed their time and talents, and to those who attended, making this such a memorable event for all ages! (See the photos in this newsletter.)

This being August, let us keep teachers, children, youth, and their families in our prayers as fall classes begin.

Blessings,
Rev. Todd

Invitations will be sent out soon for our get together on November 5, celebrating
Rev. Todd’s 15 year Anniversary as our Pastor at College Hill.

In order to recognize him (and the 30th anniversary of his ordination in October), a
prime rib dinner and celebration are being planned for after worship in Fellowship Hall.

Please be sure to RSVP once you receive your invitation, so we will have an accurate
headcount of those attending.
THANK YOU!

During our recent 5th Sunday Special Offering, we collected over $1,000 for school uniforms for Kendall Whittier and
Sequoyah Elementary students!

Thank you for your amazing generosity!
College Hill family,

Thank you all so much for the book shower celebrating us adding sweet Leighton Jean to our family! We are blessed to be a part of this congregation and cannot wait to watch our children grow here.

New look for the west entry!

You may have noticed that the west entrance at

College Hill looks a little different … or just plain bare.

On a recent visit to Tulsa, members of the Synod Youth Workshop removed the overgrown boxwood and the stone bench on the north side of the sidewalk from the parking lot.

They reinstalled the bench in the “Tranquility Garden” on the south side of the sidewalk. Its original location was in memory of Tom Bronston by his brother Jake (Jason). {Charlotte Bronston’s sons}

A bicycle rack and new plantings will be installed in the “bare” area, a project funded by a grant from Tulsa Metropolitan Ministries (TMM). Special thanks to Susan West for helping secure the grant!
Meanwhile, on the west side of the parking lot, the pollinator gardens are spreading out. Joining the established stands of Rudbeckias (Black-Eyed Susans) are two kinds of Milkweed – Tuberosa with Orange Blossoms (said to be the Monarchs’ caterpillars’ favorite) and the Tall Swamp Milkweed with light pink to white blossoms.

On the south end – a dozen or so Roses of Sharon, hearty cousin of the Hibiscus with Biblical Credentials, which will grow as tall as we like.
Granted, this garden is less-than-pristine, but after all, they’re WILD flowers – our “Gathering Place” for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.

Birthday Endowment Fund

A meaningful way to celebrate this year's Birthday, is to donate an amount equal to your new age to the Endowment Fund.

This donation is also a wonderful way to honor others such as children, grandchildren and friends and allows the church to have funds available for special projects.

Checks can be made payable to College Hill and marked "Birthday Fund" on the memo portion of the check.

2023 Vacation Church School
Meet the Gallagher Family:
Matt, Annie, Sam, and Jack
In 2021, a promise of support and a taste for adventure brought the Gallaghers
from Brooklyn to Tulsa.

With the offer of a 3-year Tulsa Artist Fellowship for writer Matt, the family was willing to move with their two young sons to an unfamiliar city.

Tulsa worked its charm to the point that they’ve put down roots and plan to stay. Lucky for Tulsa-and equally fortunate for our church!

College Hill's
Blessing Box

Beautifully handcrafted and painted by David & Susan West, this Blessing Box is now a permanent fixture in the chuirch's
west garden area.

Half of the funds that College Hill received from a $1,000 Grant from Matthew 25 Ministry PC(USA) was used for the box building materials.

Please bring non-perishable food items to place in the box to help those in need.
We welcome your encouragement, support and love for children as you assist them in learning English as a Second Language.

If you are interested, please (click name to) contact Tally Ferguson, or Cynthia Fox for details.
Joy/Concern Prayer Requests

Please submit your requests for prayers of joy or concern in the bowl in the Narthex.

Prayer requests are now being shared during Sunday Worship! Live streaming will be muted while they are shared.

Also, please reach out to Jan Swafford, Congregational Care Ministry Team Moderator, any team member, or Rev. Todd with needs and concerns.
