Word from the Pastor
Ash Wednesday, February 14, marks the beginning of the liturgical Season of Lent.

We will mark this occasion with Monastic Soup Supper at 5:30 pm in Fellowship Hall. We will eat in silence while spiritual readings are shared. This will be followed by a contemplative service of the Imposition of Ashes in the sanctuary.

Renowned author on spirituality, Henri Nouwen, considers Lent to be a time of returning, like in the parable when the prodigal son returns home to his welcoming and forgiving father. He writes, “My life drifts away from God. I have to return. Returning is a life-long struggle that is renewed each Lent.”

During this 40-day Season of Lent, focus on a healthy and meaningful spiritual life, a life that experiences a connection with the Sacred Presence with and within us.

I want to mention the meaningful time we had at our Annual Congregational Meeting & Winter Potluck on January 28. If you weren’t able to make it, please pick up a copy of the 2023 Annual Report. It’s filled with important information concerning what we and our ministry teams accomplished last year.

I encourage you to think about the things that you are most passionate about – the things that bring deep meaning to your life. Then, find a ministry team opportunity here at College Hill where you can volunteer and share your passion, energy, gifts and talents.

A list of the 2024 Ministry Teams, and the elders serving on each, is below for your contact information.

We have indeed been richly blessed as a loving, caring, and compassionate congregation.

Blessings, Rev. Todd

Please take a look at the bulletin board in the Narthex to see a photo and read a short bio of each new member!

College Hill's
Blessing Box

Beautifully painted by David & Susan West, this Blessing Box is now a permanent fixture in the church's
west garden area.

Half of the funds that College Hill received from a $1,000 Grant from Matthew 25 Ministry PC(USA) was used for the box building materials.

Your contributions can be an ongoing lifeline to those in our community that need a hand up. Please contact Susan West for more information.

Seeking Members

To help us better serve and care for our College Hill Family, we would like to have two more members on our team to serve as a Shepherd Group Leader

We work as a team to be present for members who need assistance. We also engage other members of the congregation for additional help.

If you believe this is your spiritual calling, please let Jan Swafford, or any CC Team member, know.

Survey
We are all called to minister to one another.
(1 Peter 4:10)

The purpose of our Survey is to include more members of our community of faith in sharing love and support to our College Hill Family when needed. First and foremost, the individual’s wishes, including confidentiality and privacy, are always sought and respected. Participation based on the survey, will provide a means for all of us to serve the needs of our community by offering hospital visits, meals or snacks, transportation, sending cards, phone calls, running errands, etc.

Additional Surveys are available on the Narthex table, and you may also click the button below to download and print the form.

Completed Surveys can be placed in the bowl on the resource table in the Narthex, or given to any Congregational Care Team Member or Jan Swafford, Moderator.
We have added to our weekly bulletins
and newsletters a new
QR Code
that will take people to the Donation page of our church website. Studies show how important this method of donating has become, especially for younger generations.

The code can be used for "Pledges or General Donations" to our operating budget, or for "Special Donations" which can be designated to occasional special collections taken throughout the year.
2024
Birthday Endowment Fund

A meaningful way to celebrate this year's Birthday, is to donate an amount equal to your age to the Endowment Fund.

This donation is also a wonderful way to honor others such as children, grandchildren and friends and allows the church to have funds available for special projects.

Checks can be made payable to College Hill and marked "Birthday Fund" on the memo portion of the check.
Flower Chart
Sign Up
