Church Brochure

Word from the Pastor

October will be a special month. It starts with our first all-church Retreat since before Covid. A very special thanks to Betsy Guyer, our Director of Children and Family Ministry, for organizing this event and recruiting so many others to help!

Sunday, October 5, will be a special Sunday – our annual World Communion Sunday. We will be receiving our annual PCUSA Peace & Global Witness Offering, of which we keep 25% for our own peacemaking and reconciliation efforts here in Tulsa.

I will be attending Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery's annual Pastor's Wilderness Retreat at White Rock Mountain state park in Arkansas from October 6-9. I'll be off on Sunday, October 12, and the Rev. Dr. Lisa Davison, Academic Vice President, Dean, and professor at Phillips Theological Seminary, will be preaching in my absence.

Saturday, October 11 is the annual Tulsa Pride Parade! We need those willing to walk with our College Hill banner (or ride in the truck). Please contact Mike Gibson to volunteer.

For your calendar, we will have Called Congregational Meeting on Sunday, October 26 for the purpose of electing a slate of Ruling Elders for the Class of 2028, and a member of the congregation for the Nominating Committee. More information later.

And later in the month, from the afternoon of October 26 through the 29th, I'll be attending the annual Synod of the Sun Assembly which will be held in El Paso this year. I am a commissioner to the Synod from Eastern Oklahoma Presbytery.

Let's intentionally continue to work to stay connected with one another, praying for each other, and keeping our hearts and minds open the Sacred Presence of God in our midst.

Blessings, Rev. Todd

Rally Day was outstanding! Age-appropriate bibles were given to Kennedy Driscoll (K) and Vivian Zerger (3rd). Vivian read a verse for the congregation. The pool/pizza party after worship was a blast! Thanks to John and Nancy Gammie for being such gracious hosts.

Kids were welcomed to Worship Connection with warmth as we started a new school year. The leaders are using a new curriculum this year. Growing in God’s Love is made up of units with 3-5 lessons. We started off with a unit called Tell Me about God. Check out the murals made by the kids on display in Fellowship Hall. Our next unit, Creation, will begin on 10/12. Look for handouts that have ideas for following along at home with books, hymns and activities.

Don’t forget to check out the College Hill Kids’ Library. A selection of books is on display in FH. The majority of books are in a small room adjacent to the WC room on the 2nd floor.

October 26

Join the fun after worship! We will eat pizza, decorate pumpkins, and build community. This is an ideal event for you to invite school friends, neighbors or other folks to give College Hill a try. All are welcome to this casual fall get-together.
