From The Desk Of The Principal

As we prepare for the close of school before the Christmas vacation, I want to take a moment away from the craziness of the season to thank everyone for their hard work in maintaining our school safety and acknowledge the extra effort it has taken to offer our students both in school and remote learning. This could not have been possible without the team effort that has occurred in and out of school. I know I sound like a broken record, but it is so important that we continue to adhere to the Covid-19 safe guidelines, especially when we celebrate in the coming week. The Christmas holiday season will be our ultimate test!

Just a reminder that Monday, January 4th will be a professional development day as our teachers are in-serviced on our new classroom SmartBoards. (Yippee! An extra vacation day!) We will welcome back our preschool and kindergarten students on Tuesday, January 5th while our students in grades 1-8 will be remote during this week. Those grades will return to in person learning on Monday, January 11th. Again, we hope to mitigate possible virus transmission.

As you gather in your homes to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, please know I send my warmest wishes to you and your family for a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe New Year.

May God's blessings and peace be with you.

Ms. Ann E. Dougal
Merry Christmas!
Our Christmas Liturgy

Thank you to Fr. David for celebrating Mass with us today. What a wonderful way to prepare ourselves for the Christmas season. Merry Christmas! See you next year!
PreK Wonder!
The Polar Express Came Through SMA

Our PreK students enjoyed watching The Polar Express! It was amazing to watch their faces as they enjoyed a ride on the train in the movie!
Christmas Bingo and Songs!
Christmas Excitement

Wow! There was a whole lotta excitement in the school this afternoon! We had some pretty competitive games of Christmas Bingo and Ms. Dougal had the official Bingo drum and call numbers in her office. In between Bingo games, each grade entertained us with a Christmas song and dance which provided cheers and laughs. Both the games and the songs were transmitted via Zoom so everyone could participate! Merry Christmas!
New Smartboards
New SmartBoards Come To SMA

St. Michael's Academy is pleased to announce the purchase and installation of new SmartBoards in all of the SMA classrooms. This state-of-the-art technology features self contained computer technology, meaning teachers no longer need to have a laptop hooked up to them, nor do they need a separate camera and audio. Teachers can now walk around the classroom, easily bring up multiple online websites, bring up textbooks, share work with remote learners, etc. with just one click of a button! They are arriving just in the nick of time as many of our SmartBoards were starting to fail. Installation has begun and will continue over the Christmas vacation. On Monday, January 4th, we will have a professional development day so teachers can learn how to use them. That's a plain old extra vacation day!

This purchase was made possible by a Covid-19 grant and will greatly advance our already top notch technology!
Food For Thought
"Open wide your door to the one who comes. Open your soul, throw open the depths of your heart to see the riches of simplicity, the treasures of peace, the sweetness of grace. Open your heart and run to meet the Sun of eternal light that illuminates all men."
