Staff Updates at St. Mark's & Montessori School
School Director Resigns - Search in Progress
We would like to thank Mrs. Denise Talamante for her dedication to the students and families of St. Mark's Montessori School over the past eight years. "Miss Denise" will be sorely missed from our classrooms, and we wish her the very best in her new endeavors. The search for a school director to continue our Montessori program is already underway. We released a job description this week, and we anticipate interviews beginning by February 1st. We'll share updates about our search and selection progress over the coming weeks. If you have any questions during this time, please reach out to so we can provide a response.
Organist Retires – Search in Progress
Our organist, Kathie MacDonald-Vargo, has retired as of the end of the year 2020. We want to thank Kathie for her many years 9+ of dedicated and creative service to the faith community and choir of St. Mark’s. Kathie plans to continue to be a part of the congregation and will be discerning her new place of ministry in our midst over the coming year. We plan to honor her faithful ministry in our music program at our Annual Meeting on January 31st directly following our online liturgy.
A search for a new Director of Music is underway with a posting on the website of Albuquerque’s American Guild of Organists and several other platforms. Interviews are in progress and we hope to have news by Annual Meeting on January 31st

Week of Prayer & Pilgrimage for Christian Unity: January 18-25, 2021
Join Mother Sylvia, along with pilgrims from other churches throughout New Mexico and beyond in observing a week of Prayer & Pilgrimage for Christian Unity!  The week will begin and end with short Zoom gatherings for pilgrims to meet, pray, and worship together. Throughout the week, you can chart your own daily "pilgrimage plan" customizing a route, schedule, and prayer intentions to fit your needs. You are welcome to pray and walk alone or coordinate your walks with other pilgrims. Details and registration are available here.
Continuing Daily Devotions
Perhaps the Advent Season helped you establish a habit of daily devotions. How might you continue that pattern as we move into a New Year? Perhaps you might enjoy beginning or ending your day with a short bible story (read aloud by the children and youth of St. Mark's). Link to a video with a bible story each day here. Throughout the month of January, we will be recording more bible stories to share in the upcoming season of Lent. If you'd be willing to read a story for us to record and share, please contact Sylvia+ via email here.
Listen Now; Sing Along on Sunday
This Sunday's Eucharist will include "Perhaps a Star", an original choral composition by St. Mark's Member Bill Foote, and the first part of a four part "Star Chant" by Donnel Miller-Mutia, based on scripture and inspired by St. Mark's nascent Community Cosmos Mosaic. Listen now and sing along on Sunday!

Why Gratitude Matters: A Theology of Thankfulness - ANEW2 January 23

Women's Ministry of the Diocese is staying online in 2021 via ANEW2, our 4th Saturday Zoom gatherings. Join us on January 23 at 10 a.m. for the perfect way to begin the year: Why Gratitude Matters: A Theology of Thankfulness. Contact Cindy Davis to get the Zoom link.
Our speaker, the Rev. Canon Heather Melton notes, "We live in a time where gratitude is more important than ever as the pandemic has shown us how closely linked our lives are with one another. Saying thank you is one way of acknowledging the love received from another and the gift that God has placed in the moment you experience gratitude. We will consider the importance of gratitude as a Christian virtue, the impact gratitude can have on our lives and health, our experiences of receiving and giving gratitude, and how we can deepen our spiritual disciplines around gratitude."
