SAINT MARK'S MISSION & OUTREACH
Stewardship Celebration Sunday is Here!
2022 Stewardship
Cosmic Generosity: Week Four Video
This Sunday, October 24th - Starting at 9:30 a.m.

As you’ve been prayerfully considering the ways in which you can grow in faith, we invite you to fill out your Cosmic Pledge Card during our worship this Sunday, and place it in the offering plate. If you are worshipping virtually and want to drop your Cosmic Pledge Card off in person today, you are invited to drive to St. Mark’s after the 9:30 Eucharist ends and join our fun Responding to God’s Cosmic Generosity Parade where you can place your household’s Pledge Card in the large gift box in St. Mark’s East Parking lot between 10:45 am and Noon. You might also consider coming to join our outdoor coffee hour after church.

These Pledge Cards are estimates by which we will continue to grow together in the weeks, months, and year ahead. We thank you for your prayer and discernment and look forward to walking together as we grow in sharing the gifts God has given us.

Thank you for your participation in our Responding to God’s Cosmic Generosity stewardship effort this year.
We are also bringing back an old tradition at St. Mark’s Pledge and Pie Sunday for this Celebration Sunday event on Sunday, October 24th. So please free to bring a pie to share at coffee hour sweet or savory, berry or apple, green chile or broccoli quiche. We want to celebrate God’s Cosmic Generosity together
Saturday: St. Mark’s Octoberfest and Hymn Sing
Saturday, October 23 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the Fish Garden (weather permitting--we will move indoors if the weather is bad.)

All are welcome to join us as we Celebrate the Cosmic Generosity of God and the turning of the seasons with this festive Community Meal and Hymn Sing.

Bring a dish and/or drinks to share (beer/wine and equally attractive alternatives welcome).

We will provide hotdogs and brats from the grill.

This event is sponsored by the St. Mark’s Cosmic Generosity Stewardship Team.
All Saints' Ofrenda (Virtual & In-Person)
To celebrate The Feast of All Saints at St. Mark’s each year, we build an ofrenda.

Traditionally, an ofrenda (“offering,” in Spanish) was put together around the Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos) in Latin cultures to welcome those who have died back into your life. Photographs, mementos, and favorite foods were offered to entice loved ones to return.

In our Christian tradition, we make an ofrenda to celebrate and honor the lives of the saints who have traveled this journey before us – loved ones who have helped build the foundation of our spiritual lives and showed us how to be faithful servants of God.

We invite you to participate in this beautiful tradition. Please bring photos of your loved ones who have died: people who made a difference in your lives, from whom you learned unconditional love, who were instrumental in making you the person you are today.

There will be both a virtual and in-person ofrenda. We welcome you to submit your photos of the saints and departed loved ones that you would have us remember in our liturgy.

For the virtual ofrenda submissions, please email names and photos of the faithful departed to Mother Sylvia (email her here) no later than Sunday, October 31st for inclusion in our All Saints’ Day remembrance.

For in-person ofrenda submissions, framed photos, which can stand on their own, work best, but all photos are welcome. We would also encourage everyone bringing in photos or frames to have the name of the departed and the name of the individual who it should be returned to on the back (a small piece of tape or something of that nature works well). If you would like to drop them off at the church during this week, place them in the basket in the narthex and we can put them on the ofrenda for you. You are also welcome to bring photos anytime until and on Sunday, November 7th.

The ofrenda will remain in place through our All Saints’ Day Celebration on Sunday, November 7. After that service you may take your photos home.

We hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate the lives of loved ones.

Also, there is a sign-up sheet to place a name of anyone who has passed that you'd like honored in the Litany of Saints during the liturgy on November 7th.

Tending To Our Hearts Amidst Our Grief
Sunday, November 21, 11:30AM-1PM
(Facilitator: Donnel Miller-Mutia, Hospital Chaplain & former Hospice Grief Support)

As the seasons change and trees lose their leaves, as the autumn days darken and the winter holidays approach, our personal and communal experiences of grief, loss, and change often rise to the surface. As we encounter life's major transitions and thresholds, let us gather for an hour and a half and mark our journey of healing through stories, art, poems, prayer and songs. Contact Donnel with questions and to RSVP (via email here).

DIOCESE & BEYOND
Women of Valor and Worth
Women of Valor and Worth
Nov. 12-13 at the Cathedral, ABQ and on Zoom
The Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori
This retreat, open to women and men, will be in-person at the Cathedral, or you can join via Zoom if you don't want to travel. For those attending in person, lunch will be provided.

The retreat will give us time to reflect together and individually on being Women of Valor and Worth. We’ll gain insight into how we, like saints of the past, are Women of Valor, who stand in love of God and neighbor because we know our Worth as Beloved of God; inspired to live boldly in the current changed, changing, fragmented, and uncertain world and committed to embracing our Beloved-ness, Worth, and Valor. Contact Cindy Davis with any questions.

Deadline to register for in person is October 27.
Zoom registration deadline is Nov. 10.
In Person at Cathedral, ABQ ($70) and via Zoom ($20).
Registration and abbreviated draft schedule available at VarietiesOfGifts.blogspot.com
