The Messenger of St. Mark's | After Pentecost | Oct. 25, 2024
|
For your thought:
For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he has no need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people; this he did once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests those who are subject to weakness, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.--Hebrews 7: 26-28
Study this Sunday's Readings.
Lectionary Note: From 6/2 until Advent (12/1), we will be reading from Track 1 for our Old Testament readings - Psalms, Epistle and Gospel readings will be from Track 2.

Fall Rosary for Resurrection & Remembrance
All Saints' Day Ofrenda
| |
|
As we move through seasons in the natural world, so too we move through seasons of grief. As we move through each season, new memories bubble up, and our grief might take on a variety of different qualities. In each season prayer, remembrance, and community are essential sources of support for our journey. We invite you to join us for our annual Autumn Rosary for Remembrance on Sunday, November 3rd, 6pm Mountain time. We'll gather for a quiet time of prayer, silence, poetry, and song in honor of all the departed. These gatherings are open to all, and we warmly welcome you, along with any other family members who might be interested, to join us.
In addition, If you wish to submit names of those faithful departed whom you would have us remember in our prayers on All Saints Sunday (November 3rd), you may submit names using this form. Note: if you already submitted us this link to the form, please take a moment to resubmit. Our parish administrator found an issue with the form, and we want to makes sure we have all loved ones that have been submitted.
If you have photos of the faithful departed that you have not already submitted for inclusion in St. Mark's Virtual Ofrenda, please email photos to our Parish Administrator. Please submit names and photos no later than October 30th.

Monthly Parenting Group - Nov. 2
|
Parenting brings unique challenges at every stage. If you are doing the work of “parenting” a child of any age, or if you are simply eager to listen with curiosity and compassion to support others who are doing this important work, please join us for our second Monthly Parenting Group, Saturday November 2 at 9am at St. Mark's.
There will be a supervised playdate available for younger kids on the St. Mark's playground (weather permitting) or in the downstairs youth choir room (if the weather is crummy.) while parents meet for discussion in the library.
We will continue our discussion on Baptism, and provide an opportunity for parents who may be curious about exploring the possibility of baptism for their child to come and learn more.
Even if your own kids are already baptized, this is an important opportunity for you to draw alongside other parents and provide encouragement , support, and community as they discern the right next steps in their own family's spiritual journey.
If you are the parent of teen or young adult kids, your participation is especially valuable--as newer parents often crave the support of "mentor parents" who have walked this road ahead of them. Please join us. And please help spread the word to any other parents/families you think might be interested.
Upcoming Parenting Group Dates: 12/7, 1/11, 2/1, 3/8, 4/5, 5/3
