The Messenger of St. Mark's | Advent | November 23, 2022
|
For your thought:
But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.”
--Matthew 24:43-44

SAINT MARK'S MISSION & OUTREACH
This Saturday: Gathering of the Greens & Potluck
|
Saturday, November 26th, at Heather Gaume's Mountain Retreat, from 10-2. Everyone is invited to our annual Green Gathering Get-Together. We will work together to collect greens required for assembling Advent Wreaths on Sunday, November 27th, just after worship. There will also be a fellowship potluck lunch with plenty of wide-open spaces for our young people to explore. All ages are welcome. Dress warmly, as much of this will take place outdoors.
Please RSVP to Heather via email.
Click here for instructions on how to get Heather's place (please note that if you plug in her address into Google Maps, you'll wind up in Rio Rancho...wrong way!).
Important note regarding weather: If there is snow on Forest Road 333, you will need 4-wheel drive to make to the Piedra Lisa parking lot where Heather will come and pick up folks. If there is more than 3 inches of snow, we will cancel. There will be an email sent to the parish if we cancel this event, so please watch your inbox.

St. Mark's Christmas Outreach: The Barrett Foundation
|
The Barrett Foundation provides shelter and supportive services to women and children experiencing homelessness. This organization helps women build the stability they need to secure a home for themselves and their children.
St. Mark’s will be supporting The Barrett Foundation this month with gift cards for the families. The effort will allow them to experience shopping, selecting and wrapping the gifts themselves. Our Barrett House contact said that some of these women have never had this opportunity before. Barrett House is asking for $5, $10, and $25 gift cards from Wal-Mart and Target.
We may also provide themed gift baskets for the families such as: Movie Night, Coffee and Desert, Game Night, etc., as well as wrapping paper and tape. Theme suggestions and sign-ups are at the main-entrance table.
Deadline for all items is Sunday, December 11th.

Born of the Virgin Mary: An Advent Quiet Day at St. Mark’s
|
Saturday, December 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There is no incarnation, no ”word made flesh” without Mary. This quiet day will include exercises to assist us in accessing, opening ourselves to, and entering into the experience of the incarnation through Mary, the mother of Jesus. The Rev. Michael Jupin, who has been a spiritual director and contemplative prayer group leader, will lead the day. Bring a brown-bag lunch (water, coffee, tea provided) and sign up here online or on the table at the church entrance.
Please sign up by Thursday December 8th. Meeting place and other details will be sent to registrants before the day.
