By any and all estimates, Holy Week services and events were infused with remarkable energy and love in our community, and admirably led by our clergy and staff. These were not performances, but integral rituals intended for all to access individual and corporate worship. Yes, it was beautiful and seemed flawless; and, yes, so much had gone into “preparing the rooms” for us. On Easter morning several of us opined that the music was extraordinary, and the organ sounded spectacular. Jeremy, our Music Director and exemplary organist, is one example of our worship leaders whose professionalism and zeal make our Church beautiful and accessible. The work of the Building Renewal Effort attunes with both the quality of what we enjoy and what we need to responsibly move ahead sustainably with intention.
We’re doing well Looking and Listening. Now, two Sundays of Learning lie ahead: April 23 and May 7. These are Learning Days with Robert Habiger. Robert will more thoroughly open our eyes through his vocation of designing sacred spaces. We have heard from him already on essential elements of good design:
Mystery: the Sacred, the Holy Spirit and the ways we touch into reality of Divine Mystery.
Environment: the physical, architectural spaces in which we gather amid ritual objects, art, and liturgical accoutrements.
Encounter: the interaction between parishioners communally, and between both the congregation and each individual with God.
To whatever degree we can each participate, we are that much stronger, especially as the Committee looks for an Architect and Firm who can love our projects. Join with Father Christopher, consultant Robert Harbiger, and the Building Renewal Committee as together we build something beautiful. Yes! and Yes!

Monday: Spring Rosary for Remembrance | |

As we move through seasons in the natural world, so too we move through seasons of grief. In each season prayer, remembrance, and community are essential sources of support for our journey. We invite you to join us for our Spring Rosary for Remembrance, Monday April 24th at 7PM Mountain time, in person AND on zoom. Join us for a quiet time of prayer, silence, poetry, and song in honor of all the departed. These gatherings are open to all, and we warmly welcome you, along with any other friends or family members who might be interested, to join us to remember all those who have died--both those in our personal lives and those in the wider world-- and all those who mourn.

Theme: Climate Change - Our Fragile Earth
In our faith tradition, God calls us to be stewards of his creation and St. Mark's Episcopal church continues to work on finding solutions to the climate crisis in our world. One of the ways to change hearts and minds is to focus on the beauty and fragility of our ecosystem. Another is to highlight problems and propose solutions. Artists are uniquely positioned to both challenge and encourage through their works of art. We hope that this call for art highlights new perspectives and inspires a growing community of people working towards climate solutions. Any media will be accepted, however we have limited space for 3-dimensional works and sculpture artists will need to provide their own stands. If interested in submitting artwork, please download the prospectus here. The deadline for entries is Saturday, May 27th.

Reading the Acts of the Apostles
The joyful mystery of Easter is so great it cannot be contained in a single day. Therefore, the Church’s celebration of Easter lasts for 50 days, culminating in the Feast of Pentecost. During the 50 days of Easter, it is the tradition of the Church to read aloud the Acts of the Apostles. This Eastertide, we invite you to join members of St. Mark’s as we enter into this ancient practice together, reading a short portion of Acts each day for 50 days. We encourage you to set aside 15 minutes each day in Eastertide--alone with a journal, or together with members of your family or friends--to listen to the Spirit speaking to you through the scriptures. You will find a schedule of daily readings, with links to the scripture text and/or video recordings of St. Mark's members reading passages aloud at here.

Creating an "Eastertide Wreath"
If you enjoy the tradition of an Advent Wreath to help mark the days of Advent in preparation for Christmas, we invite you to create an “Eastertide Wreath” to help mark the days of Easter in preparation for Pentecost. A simple tray with 8 tealight candles can provide a visual focus for your daily devotions in Eastertide. (Rainbow colored candles or votive holders can add a level of beauty and meaning to your Eastertide Wreath, but they are not strictly necessary. Plain white candles will do just fine.)

Monte Vista Christian Church is having a fundraiser to buy books for children in need on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Barnes & Noble in Coronado (6600 Menaul Blvd NE)
All you need to do is:
- Pick up your voucher at the MVCC table when you enter the store.
- Do your personal shopping. Any purchase using our voucher will count!
- Turn in your voucher when you pay. There is no additional cost to you.
FaithWorks will receive a percentage of the purchase price on a B&N gift card, which we’ll use to buy books - both Spanish and bilingual! The books will benefit children served by ABQ FaithWorks, other organizations supported by MVCC, and immigrants who come to New Mexico’s southern border. The books FaithWorks will buy for this project will be children’s classics and not religious.

Border Ministry Needs Our Help | |

Several St. Mark's parishioners are involved with the DRG Border Ministry going to El Paso once a month with several carloads of supplies and clothes that four shelters request. Please see the attached report.
With that in mind, can you help us fill this “always needs” list from the Annunciation House shelters in El Paso? Our next trip to the Annunciation House shelters is May 11th. Please have all donations dropped off by Sunday, May 7th.Please understand that because of limited storage space in our vehicles and the shelters, these are the only items that we can accept:
- Athletic pants, men, small, medium
- Leggings, women’s small and medium
- Men’s boxers, new, small & medium
- Women’s briefs, new, small & medium
- Ankle socks, new, men or women’s
- Large Body Wash
- Large shampoo
- Laundry soap, liquid
- Backpacks, gently used
