The Heavens are Telling the Glory of God: Haydn's The Creation - Introduction and Talk
Franz Joseph Haydn's oratorio The Creation, one of the greatest masterpieces of eighteenth-century music, celebrates the beauty and divinity of the cosmos by setting the words of the Hebrew Bible and Milton's Paradise Lost. In his talk The Heavens are Telling the Glory of God: Haydn's The Creation, Bruce Redford (professor emeritus, Boston University, and a parishioner of St. Mark's) will discuss Haydn's inspired literary and musical choices, as well as the work's joyous theology.
