Sign Up to Serve: Table Host Training for Summer of Storytelling
|
|
Sign-Up to serve as a Table Host for St. Mark’s Summer of Storytelling and Sandwiches.
We need both Virtual and In-Person Hosts. Each person will have a co-host for the evening, and we plan to mix people around so that they are with new groups of people with new stories to hear and tell. The Storytelling evenings will take place at St. Mark’s or Online.
Table Host Training will be Sunday May 23, 2021 from 5-7 pm.
For planning purposes, here is more detailed information regarding the Summer of Storytelling at St. Mark's:
Summer of Storytelling
This summer we are shifting our Summer of Conversation into a slightly different key. We plan to have several evening gatherings at the Church and on Zoom for Storytelling and Sandwiches.
The Storytelling will take place in small multi-generational groups around a casual dinner table if in-person (at the church) or on Zoom. For those in-person, we’ll supply sandwiches, drinks and other goodies as well as story prompts for the evening. It will be a chance to hear stories from people who you may know well or not so well and to share stories of your own.
Schedule for the Storytelling Evenings.
- 5:00 Gather and Godly Play
- 5:30 Dinner and Storytelling in small groups.
- 6:30 Cleanup and the beautiful prayer service of Compline
- 7:00 Storytelling Event Concludes
The events will take place in June, July and September. The first one will be on Saturday, June 5, 5-7 p.m. Sign-ups will be coming out soon!
Notes:
Each Storytelling Evening will have different Story telling prompts and different groups. There will be three Community Storytelling Events during this summer. All will be offered in-person and online. All ages are always welcome. All may attend one or more of the events.
We look forward to seeing you!

Summer Conversations with St. Mark's Clergy
|
|
Please call to sign up now!
It's been a year of challenges and pain, a year of growth and beauty, and full of upheaval and surprises for all of us. As we begin our slow transition out of the pandemic, the clergy of St. Mark's are longing to meet with EACH member of St. Mark's (young & old, new & longtime) to hear what has been happening in your life and family, your spirit and soul throughout this time. You each matter so much to us. We are eager to hear how the Spirit is moving in your life, and we are honored to discern how we can bless and support you in this season of change and transition. As a clergy team, our (admittedly ambitious) goal is to meet with all members of St. Mark's at least once this summer.
Please help us achieve our goal by calling the church office Monday-Thursday, 10AM-1PM at 505-262-2484 to set up your summer meeting with one of St. Mark's Clergy as soon as possible.
Children and youth, as well as adults; visitors and newcomers, as well as longtime members; geographically distant as well as local members: EVERYONE is encouraged to make an appointment! Just let us know what days/times are most convenient for you and if you would prefer an "in person", phone, or zoom appointment. Our Parish Administrator, Jennifer Lind, will be glad to assist you in scheduling your meeting, then the clergy will contact you to confirm details (including location for "in person" meetings) the week of your appointment.
Thank you for helping St. Mark's continue to grow as a robust, healthy, spiritually connected community, by reaching out to make your appointment with a member of St. Mark's clergy today!

This Sunday: Garden Blessing
|
|
|
|
It is a longstanding tradition of the church to observe "Rogation Days" during the 6th week of Eastertide by blessing fields and gardens in preparation for planting. This year we will honor this tradition with a "Blessing of the Gardens" at the end of our Sunday Eucharist on May 16 (~10:30 a.m.). For those of you worshipping "virtually" from home this Sunday, we encourage you to consider bringing your device outdoors to worship in your garden (at least for the blessing)! For those of you worshipping "in person", we will bless small jars of water at St. Mark's for you to take home and sprinkle on your garden after church! (You are most welcome to bring your seeds, seedling, or garden gloves or tools to church on Sunday for a blessing, too!).

"MOM" with the Rev. Jan Hosea ANEW2 on May 22
|
|
Invite your friends to the Zoom gathering on May 22 at 10:00 a.m. for a fun exploration of biblical women who were moms and/or mentors to other women. Join in to learn what the relationships of Elizabeth and Mary, Naomi and Ruth, Leah and Rachel, Sarah and Hagar can teach us. With the Rev. Jan Hosea we'll consider how we also are and can be mentors and moms (biological or not) to those with whom we interact.
Email Cindy Davis for the Zoom Link. (If you have participated in past ANEW2 events, you will automatically get the link.)
