Virtual Training Session for the Summer of Conversation
Summer of Conversation Virtual Training
Thursday July 9, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

One of the core values of St. Mark’s is to be a deeply relational church. One of the ways we make this possible in the life of the community of St. Mark’s is to become more intentional about building relationships and listening more deeply to one another. To this end, we are initiating  A Summer of Conversation at St. Mark’s.  The concept is simple: Encourage conversations among our members that help people get to know one another, talk about why St. Marks’ is important to them and to get a sense for where they sense God at work in them and the congregation.

In this time of Covid-19 our training will be a bit different and our methods of having conversations may change a bit as well but we want to stay connected, develop deep relationships and discover together where God is at work in our faith community through listening to one another. Whether you know that you want to be involved or are just curious you are welcome to the training and preparation for this  Summer of Conversation . We already have a team of more than 20 forming to make this a great initiative and powerful way of staying connected in these isolating times.

Hope you consider joining us.
Update from St. Mark's Montessori School
St. Mark’s Montessori School hosted their end-of-the-school-year celebration for the preschool students on Saturday, May 30th. The year started with a western theme and it was appropriate to end the year with a “Round-up Stampede”. The faculty of St. Mark’s Montessori set up decorated “stalls” around the church/school property, allowing families to drive around the property in their cars – staying at a safe distance while staff cheered on our families and passed out gifts to the children. Many buckaroos and their families attended this event. Happy trails until we meet again.

Virtual Hobbit Camp Stoney
This week would have been the start of the summer camping season at Camp Stoney.

While circumstances out of our control dictate that we cannot hold camping season at Bishop's Ridge this year, we are delighted to announce that there will be a Hobbit Camp Program for this year.

This year we are not able to meet in person to have camp at Camp Stoney. So we have been working hard to put together a VIRTUAL AT HOME HOBBIT CAMP JUNE 22nd-26th!!!

This minicamp is completely free, and should be a lot of fun for your favorite camper as well as for the family!

Each day we will put out a video here on our Facebook page Narnia at Camp Stoney that contains:

Opening Worship
Bible Study
Arts and Crafts
Costuming ideas
And closing worship

These can be watched at your convenience at home. Then on Wednesday and Friday we will also hold a zoom get together so that we can all see one another in person.

In our usual Narnia/Hobbit camps we tell the story though daily skits - which is not really possible during our social distancing, so instead we will base it off of the three Hobbit movies.

We will focus on:
The Hobbit (1): The Unexpected Journey on Monday and Tuesday.
The Hobbit (2): the Desolation of Smaug on Wednesday and Thursday and
The Hobbit (3) The Battle of the 5 Armies on Friday.

Some of you may own these videos, but if you don't they are available to stream on HBO Max, or to rent or even buy on many platforms such as YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, and more! So we should have many options to watch.

As you know on Fridays at Narnia Camp, we always have a feast in the costumes that we have made throughout the week as well as have an epic battle.

Our Zoom for Friday will give everyone a chance to show off the amazing costumes that they made!

All the activities and crafts that we plan to make are able to be adjusted to items that you can easily get- or could adapt in other ways. - so get creative as you join us!

A lot of us need some good happening in our world today, and we ALL need GOD, so please share this event with your friends and family as well! The more the merrier!

And if you are feeling generous feel free to make a donation to Camp Stoney so that we can have an amazing adventure IN Person next year!

Email submissions should be sent ( via email ) to the Communications Coordinator by 5:00 p.m. each Thursday for inclusion on Friday e-news. Please see submission guidelines here.
